Medjugorje Day By Day June 28 - FAST

JUNE 28 - FAST

In a special apparition to Ivan in 1984, the Blessed Mother asked him to convey the following message:

I would like the people to pray with me as much as they can during these days. Fast strictly on Wednesdays and Fridays and each day pray at least one full rosary, the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. (Special Message 8-14-84)

In Acts we see the infant church engaged in fasting and prayer:

While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off (Acts 13:2-3)

Reflection:

Although fasting may seem to be a difficult teaching, the rewards far outweigh its inconvenience. Our Lady wants us to be aware of its power, especially when combined with prayer. It is by prayer, of course, that we attach ourselves to God, but it is by fasting that we detach ourselves from the world. Thus fasting leads to a new freedom of mind and heart.

"Fasting," says Fr. Slavko Barbaric, "is a call to conversion directed to our body. And as we free ourselves from things outside of ourselves, we also free ourselves from the passions within us that are keeping our interior life in chains."

This new freedom allows us to embrace spiritual values through which we can experience true happiness. In this way fasting liberates us from bondage and sets us free to life the joyous life for which we were created.

Application:

On your next fast day, pray especially for freedom from the material.

Prayer against abortion (FOR THOSE IN THE AFRICANDIASPORA)

Dear Lord Jesus,

You who have created us in the womb, knew us before we were born. You proclaim
Your delight and wonder in Your creation, and declare that we are fearfully and
wonderfully made. You created us, lived for us and died for us on the Cross
leading us to new life in the Resurrection. We thank You and praise You for Your
wondrous love.

Lord, so many are being violated by acts of abortion, destroying the lives You
created. This act of violence is perpetuated and treated as a choice and a
freedom. This lie can only be conquered through Your love and Truth, which in
itself sets free the captive hearts infiltrating this violence of the unborn.
May they be convicted by the Power of the Holy Spirit and brought to love, peace
and truth.

We ask that all doctors, nurses, employees of abortion clinics be
enlightened and guided into the Light of Christ and set free. We pray for the
unborn to be protected by Angels, and the Light of Christ surround the womb of
every mother contemplating abortion.

May the heart of Mother Mary, holy
motherhood, fill the heart of every mother. May the Spirit of Truth, Peace and

Oh sweet Blessed Mother, intercede for us that our next president will support

My God and Father, in response to the word of your Son on the Mount of Olives, "Watch and pray with me," we ask you to accept us as special helpers for your priests, on behalf of whom, we offer you each Thursday as a sacrifice of love.
With a fervent desire of being such a helper of priests, I offer you, Father, in complete confidence, each Thursday as a sacrifice of love on behalf of all priests.  Take this sacrifice of my poor love and transform it in your Heart into the wine for the Chalice of Strength.  Then, Father, send your angels out with this chalice to all priests!  Amen.

Look kindly Lord, on your priests, religious and laymen who left all to witness to your word and your love.  Be to each one of them a "powerful protector and their strong support, their shade from the midday sun, their shelter from the desert wind, a guard against stumbling, an assurance against a fall..." (Ecc 34:19).

Sustain them in difficult moments, direct their strength, console their hearts and crown their works with spiritual victories.  Let them not seek for earthly success or the goods of this world, but only your triumph and the good of souls.

Your Cross, which accompanies them through their lives, speaks to them of heroism, renunciation and of peace.  Be their comfort, their guide, their light and their strength, so that your name may be announced everywhere and that, surrounded by a larger and larger number of your children, they may sing a hymn of thanksgiving, of glory and redemption.  Amen.

Almighty God, I worship you as my Creator and the Creator of all that is seen and unseen.  All glory and honor is Yours.

Creator of human life, we thank you for the tremendous blessings you have bestowed upon our country through the talents of our fellow Americans who do not believe in the Communist and atheistic philosophy that the end justifies the means.

Have mercy on our nation.  Stay Your hand of justice, which we surely deserve for the destruction of life that is taking place daily as we pray for the over 3,000 helpless human beings who will be aborted today.

Have mercy on us as unknown numbers of people die the excruciating death of forced dehydration as hospice and other caregivers routinely stop hydration.  Enlighten the families of those without hydration that their loved one has been thrown into a nonresponsive state that prevents them from expressing their excruciating pain.

Have mercy on us, for the law of our land has allowed over 50 million legalized abortions since 1973 when the Supreme Court legislated legal abortion, for all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason.

Turn around the success that the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws has had, since 1965, in convincing Americans that it is not a scientific fact the woman's unborn is a human being, but a religious philosophy which can be debated.  Have mercy on those who use religious prejudice for financial gain.

Let it be known that it was the Food and Drug Administration and not science that redefined conception in 1970 from fertilization to implantation for the profitability of drug companies to sell contraceptives that harden the wall of the uterus to prevent implantation.
Have mercy on us for the myriad of embryos that have died from purposely not being able to implant in the womb due to these contraceptives.

We pray for those involved in destructive embryonic stem cell research where an embryo is destroyed to obtain the embryonic stem cells.  We pray for nondestructive stem cell research to be successful.

We pray for the election of a President, governors, legislatures, and judges, who will not be pulled in by the potential hype of destructive embryonic stem cell research, but instead, stop state funding and prevent federal funding of immoral embryonic stem cell research and cloning.

We pray for the election of a President, governors, legislatures, and judges, who will stop our tax moneys from going to Planned Parenthood, the number one abortion company in America.

We pray for the election of a President, governors, legislatures, and judges, who will help us get the laws in place to protect humanity as countless embryos die due to biomedical "advances" and research.

We implore You to affect the minds and hearts of voters to vote for the candidates who You know are the best to lead our country out of this disregard for the sanctity of all human life.  Please remember your words:

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
