Black Christ

Black Saints of the day—From the Black Saints reference book by James Wesly Smith, 456 pages, paperback, 1000 lines of Black and African Saints in the Latin Rite, Coptic and Orthodox branches of the Mystical Body of Christ (all Christianity combined) to year 599 A.D. BLACK SAINT OF THE DAY

Ammon the Great, Hermit, I am a monk of the desert.  Robbers periodically stole my meager rations of bread.  After a while, I tired of it, and ordered two huge serpents to guard my food and cell.  When the robbers saw this, they became paralyzed.  I cured them, explaining the goodness of God.  They repented, and became even more virtuous, presenting in the glory of God signs and wonders.

Another large serpent continually molested and killed nearby villagers.  They bade my assistance.  In God’s mercy, I prayed before the serpents abode, it rushed me, and burst.

Ammon,  (according to Athanasius) became a Christian and a monk. Then a bishop several years more’ after March 15, 351 A.D. six years after Pachomius died. Among the holy folk.

To the World

July 8, 2008

My Children of Humanity,

As a gracious God, I love you with a Love no parent or human being could endure.
I see from afar; and yet, I see very closely. There you are. I am here with
you, inviting you in a special way to pray with your heart and to be strong
enough to move forward without fear.

So many are afraid of the Father. They have no idea how gracious a father is:
his love, his perseverance, his patience, his endurance, his fortitude, his own
fear of God, his piety and his righteousness. A father is one who gives at all
times, at every moment, unconditionally and without exception.

Time is moving forward, and so few seem to pay attention to My great Love for
all. When the time comes where there is chaos and hardships, how can you run to
a Father looking for advice if you have not listened or put into practice the
advice I have given before You would be filled with yourself; and if you are
filled with self knowledge, and the distance from your mind to your heart is
great, how will you hear the quiet words, the few I will give, of instruction to
help you?

When you hear My words, you cry in fear and you are frightened; but have you
ever thought to put into practice My words to truly be athletically fit to
endure spiritually? If you haven't, then do not cry; for the negligence is not
on the part of your Father, but rather in your lack of response.

I love you. I am with you, but I will always invite you every day, more and
more, to do more and to be more prepared.

There are two lives, a life in Me and a life as you live in the world. Choose
one! You can live in the world and still belong to Me; and if you do that, you
will still be prepared. But if you do not pay heed to Me, and you live your
life without Me, then that is the graciousness of the reward of life you get.
The payment due will be forthcoming. Your choice: one life!

Peace.

"My child come to Me"

Dear Friends,

"I rejoiced because they said to me, we will go up to the house of the Lord. And now we have set foot within your gates, O Jerusalem-Jerusalem, built as a city with compact unity." Psalm 122, 1 - 3

We had another fine day yesterday with sunshine the whole day and the weather close to 80 degrees. It is getting warmer and the humidity is going up but it was very nice in the evening with a nice cool wind and we could sleep without any trouble. We should have a nice day today although we might have some thunder and rain this evening.

I celebrated Holy Mass yesterday with a priest from California who came for a visit. He knows some of the people I met while I was in Los Angeles in January. Today I will celebrate Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m. as usual and after the celebration I will go to Charlottetown airport to get a friend who is coming to visit me for a few days. I hope to be at the prayer meeting this evening at our church at 8:00 p.m.

I recommend a very nice book titled "Roses in December" by Dom Forker. It is in many Catholic bookstores in Canada and the USA today. It was published in June 2008. There is a chapter on Our Lady of Prince Edward Island.

Here is another quotation from the little book titled, "Conversations with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus." Jesus speaks saying, "I remain a prisoner in this tabernacle. I wait for every soul who is absent from Me. My children must understand that I am drawing souls to Myself.

I can no longer stand by and watch so many souls lost for eternity. In days past, there would be a small number who chose to remain parted from Me for eternity.

This caused Me suffering, it is true. In these times, though, My presence in the world and dominion over this world is treated so casually that many souls choosing darkness are led to believe this is almost a meaningless decision.

They do not understand the impact. Indeed, some of My children are casual about their eternity because they believe they will have several attempts at life in this world. I tell you today, children, this is a Godless notion created and perpetuated by the evil one who would like to downplay the importance of what you do with this time.

There is only one life allotted to each soul. There can be no question about that. Do not believe that you will come back to earth again for another chance. It is this life you are living that will determine your eternity.

So, My children, now that we all understand the importance of this day, and this series of days allotted to you, let Us make a decision on how you will spend the remainder of your time. I would like you to help Me. I have special work that need to be done. Indeed, I have special work for each one of these days remaining to you.

If you will say "yes" to Me, I can rest more easily, knowing those tasks will be completed and souls, the certain number attached to your work, will be saved. My child come to Me and do My work."

Every person was created to accomplish a special work of the Lord. Let us give our consent to Him and do what He asks of us. He will let us know in prayer.

Father Melvin

Medjugorje Day By Day July 10 - JESUS GIVES HIMSELF AT THE MASS O Saving Victim, opening wide The gate of Heaven to man below; Our foes press on from every side; Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.

To Thy great Name be endless praise, Immortal Godhead, One in Three. Oh, grant us endless length of days In our true native land with Thee. Amen. (English version of "O Salutaris Hostia")

Mother Teresa - The Blame Game! "The self-indulgent always find fault with others. The blame has to be placed somewhere: the boss, the nagging wife, the teachers, the politicians or the nasty man at the next desk. The sense of justice is so rooted in the human heart that responsibility must be laid on some shoulders; if not on self, where it belongs, then on another, where it does not.

The self-pity awakens a sorrow which leads to despair and remorse." Meditations by Padre Pio - Even when reprimanded one must be courteous and gentle (GB 34). Archbishop Fulton Sheen - The difference between the penitent and proud"Take the other case of those who suffer unjustly but with faith and love of God in their hearts.

They may have a sadness in their hearts from pain and torture, but never remorse. They end in penitence or a making up for guilt by bearing patiently the trials of others. This is illustrated in the case of Judas and Peter. There is much similarity between the two, up to a point. Our Lord warned both of them that they would fail; He even told them that each would be a devil."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html - January 10, 1937. I asked the Lord today to give me strength in the morning so that I could go to receive Holy Communion.

My Master, I ask You with all my thirsting heart to give me, if this is according to Your holy will, any suffering and weakness that You like-I want to suffer all day and all night-but please, I fervently beg You, strengthen me for the one moment when I am to receive Holy Communion.

You see very well, Jesus, that here they do not bring Holy Communion to the sick; so, if You do not strengthen me for that moment so that I can go down to the chapel, how can I receive You in the Mystery of Love?

And You know how much my heart longs for You. O my sweet Spouse, what's the good of all these reasonings? You know how ardently I desire You, and if You so choose You can do this for me.

On the following morning, I felt as if I were perfectly well; the faintings and the weaknesses ceased. But as soon as I returned from the chapel, all the sufferings and weaknesses immediately returned, as if they had been waiting for me. But I had no fear of them at all, because I had been nourished by the Bread of the Strong.

I boldly look at everything; even death itself I look straight in the eye. (876) MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press. -

July 10 - JESUS GIVES HIMSELF AT THE MASS Speaking of the Mass, the Blessed virgin said to Jelena, My children, I wish that the holy Mass would be the day's gift to you. Attend it, wish for it to begin. Jesus gives himself to you at the Mass. Therefore, look forward to that moment, for than you are cleansed.

Pray a great deal that the Holy Spirit will renew your parish, for if people attend Mass with lukewarmness, they will return to their homes cold, with an empty heart. (LJM 3-30-84) St. Mark offers us this account of Jesus' institution of the Eucharist: While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take; this is my body."

Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many." (Mk 14:22-24

Reflection: The Mass is by far the most precious gift of God to his people, for it is the gift of himself. St. Augustine wrote that, "Although God is all powerful, he is unable to give more; though supremely wise, he knows not how to give more; though vastly rich, he has no more to give." St. Thomas Aquinas, one of the great theologians of the church wrote that, "The celebration of holy Mass is as valuable as the death of Jesus on the cross."

Padre Pio, the contemplative friar who carried the wounds of Christ, made the remarkable statement that, "It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do so without the holy Mass." And last, from Pope Pius X, who allowed children to receive communion: "If angels could envy, they would envy us holy communion."

Application: Today, reflect prayerfully on these lines from St. Anthony Claret: When we go to holy communion, all of us receive the same Lord Jesus, but not all receive the same grace...

Our differences in disposition are the reason. When a branch is grafted on a tree, the more similar the branch is to the tree, the better the graft will succeed. Likewise, the more the one going to holy communion resembles Jesus, the better will the fruits of holy communion be.

MEDJUGORGE MESSAGE 1987 NOVEMBER "Dear children! Today also I call each one of you to decide to surrender again everything completely to me. Only that way will I be able to present each of you to God. Dear children, you know that I love you immeasurably and that I desire each of you for myself, but God has given to all a freedom which I lovingly respect and humbly submit to.

I desire, dear children, that you help so that everything God has planned in this parish shall be realized. If you do not pray, you shall not be able to recognize my love and the plans which God has for this parish and for each individual. Pray that Satan does not entice you with his pride and deceptive strength. I am with you and I want you to believe me, that I love you.

Thank you for having responded to my call." "Make use of devotion to the Blessed Sacrament as a means of persevering in the practice of virtue. Let us go to Him toward evening and tell Him about our shortcomings, let us ask Him for help and forgiveness. Our Lord loves us, He thinks of us constantly, and His glance follows us every moment of the day" (Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val, Servant of God).

Mother Teresa - Whatever you do, even if you help somebody cross the road, you do it to Jesus. Meditations by Padre Pio - To lack charity is to wound the pupil of God's eye. What is more delicate than the pupil of the eye? To lack charity is like sinning against nature (AdFP 555).

Archbishop Fulton Sheen - The difference between Pity and Penitence "Both Peter and Judas did deny the Master and both repented or were sorry. But the Greek word used in the Scripture is not the same in both instances. Judas repented unto himself - he had self-pity. Peter repented unto the Lord - he had penitence, sorrow and a desire for amendment. Peter cleaned the weeds out of the garden, but Judas killed the nocturnal brood of remorseful serpents in his breast by hanging himself."

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html - O Lord, I feel your grace and Your peace filling my poor soul. I feel overwhelmed by Your mercy, O Lord. You forgive me, which is more than I dared to hope for or could imagine.

Your goodness surpasses all my desires. And now, filled with gratitude for so many graces. I invite You to my heart. I wandered, like a prodigal child gone astray; but you did not cease to be my Father. Increase Your mercy toward me, for You see how weak I am. Jesus: Child, speak no more of your misery; it is already forgotten.

Listen, My child, to what I desire to tell you. Come close to My wounds and draw from the Fountain of Life whatever your heart desires. Drink copiously from the Fountain of Life and you will not weary on your journey. Look at the splendors of My mercy and do not fear the enemies of your salvation. Glorify My mercy. (1485b)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY July 11 - ST. BENEDICT, ABBOT The Blessed Mother gave Jelena this explanation after she saw a beautiful pearl divide itself. Each half sparkled and then faded away: Jelena, everyone's heart is like this lovely pearl.

When one belongs completely to the Lord, one shines even in the darkness. But when one is divided—a little to Satan, a little to sin, a little to everything— one's heart fades away and becomes worthless. (LJM 6-15-85) And from the book of Revelation: I know your works; you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold not hot, I will spit you out of my mouth. (Rv 3:15-16)

Reflection: St. Benedict, the father of Western monasticism, was known for his steadfast loyalty and love of the Lord, and he carefully inculcated these virtues in his friars. Born in 480 and educated in Rome, he began the monastic life at Subiaco where he gathered disciples, and then departed for Monte Cassino.

There he established the famous monastery and composed the Benedictine Rule, which spread throughout Europe. His undivided faith, which Our Lady calls us to today, can be easily discerned in his writing. From the Rule of St. Benedict: What could be more delightful, dearest brothers, than the voice of Our Lord's invitation to us? In his loving kindness he reveals to us the way of life.

And so, girded with faith and the performance of good works, let us follow in his paths by the guidance of the gospel; then we shall deserve to see him who has called us unto his kingdom. If we wish to attain a dwelling-place in his kingdom we shall not reach it unless we hasten there by our good deeds. Application: Today, pray for an undivided heart that expresses itself in good deeds for others.

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY July 10 - JESUS GIVES HIMSELF AT THE MASS Speaking of the Mass, the Blessed virgin said to Jelena, My children, I wish that the holy Mass would be the day's gift to you.

He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many." (Mk 14:22-24 Reflection: The Mass is by far the most precious gift of God to his people, for it is the gift of himself. St. Augustine wrote that, "Although God is all powerful, he is unable to give more; though supremely wise, he knows not how to give more; though vastly rich, he has no more to give."

St. Thomas Aquinas, one of the great theologians of the church wrote that, "The celebration of holy Mass is as valuable as the death of Jesus on the cross." Padre Pio, the contemplative friar who carried the wounds of Christ, made the remarkable statement that, "It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do so without the holy Mass."

And last, from Pope Pius X, who allowed children to receive communion: "If angels could envy, they would envy us holy communion." Application: Today, reflect prayerfully on these lines from St.
