BLACK SAINT OF THE DAY
Abuna Frumentius of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Abyssinia, Ethiopia. CIRCA, 380 A.D..
(Note: Frumentius, also known as Abuna, DID NOT BECOME THE FIRST TO EVANGELIZE ETHIOPIA/CUSH/NUBIA. That was done by the Ethiopian Eunuch (Chrysanthius Eunuchus) of the Kandake, Queen Candace. See Acts.)
Also Apostle Matthew was among the first to preach Christ in Ethiopia. Frumentius and his helpers reinforced Christianity, already laid by Our Lord and Our Lord’s apostle(s), some 350, plus years prior to Abuna Frumentius.
Although I was born in at Tyre (modern Sur, Lebanon), I am called an Apostle to Ethiopia, Abuna of Ethiopia, Father of Ethiopia.
I studied under Meropius, the philosopher. Aedeius was my brother. A Red Sea ship cruise resulted in a vessel upon which we were sailing wrecking on the Abyssinian/Ethiopic shoreline. My brother and myself survived. Soldiers captured us, delivering us to the King of the capital city of Aksum (which had formerly been ruled by Queens, called Kandake or Candace).
After a time, we were invited to join the court administration. I became a government minister, like a modern secretary.
When the king died, we joined the succeeding Queen's court. She allowed us to evangelize Christianity, which had been previously brought to Christianity by the Ethiopian Eunuch and saints Phillip, Matthew, and Nathaniel.
I petitioned another African Archbishop, Athanasius at Alexandria, for additional help. He consecrated me bishop at Ethiopia. Through our efforts(with brother Aedesius) converts included princes Ezana and Sheazana.
I died in peacefully, around 380 A.D. (Western Liturgical Church), 27 Oct. and November 30

Dear Friends,
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Matthew 5: 3 ? 5
We had another sunny day yesterday with hardly any wind. It was warm in the afternoon and humid in the evening. It became cooler during the night and this morning it is partly cloudy and we could have some showers. The sun should shine later on.
I celebrated Holy Mass at the little shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island yesterday morning at 9:30 a.m. A nice group was present. At 11:30 a.m. Fr. Nicholas, our visitor Julie, and I left for Charlottetown Airport as Julie was taking the plane at 2:30 p.m. to return to Washington State. After saying good-bye to her, Fr. Nicholas and I went to visit St. Dunstan's Basilica in Charlottetown. The Basilica is the Cathedral of the Diocese. We were home for supper and at 8:00 p.m. we were at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, for the prayer meeting. We were filled with joy in praising and thanking the Lord for all He does for us.
Here is another quote from Joseph, as he shares with us the words of Jesus addressed to him. Jesus said, I have the right to call you to fulfill the mission I have for you. The Gospels remind you that I personally called the twelve Apostles to follow Me. I selected them one by one and each one responded by leaving what they were doing and came to follow Me. Each one called received a special grace to carry out what I called them to do. Those who were not called did not move and carried on whatever they were doing.
I call every person who believes in Me to a special mission. Some men are called to be priests, monks, religious brothers and some of the women are called to be religious sisters in contemplative orders or in societies of active life. Every layperson is also called to a special mission. Many are called to the married life to have children and to bring them up to know and follow Me. Others are called to the single life to pray and to help the people in need. All are called to help the poor, the sick, the elderly, the orphans and widows.
How have you responded to your calling? Did you say yes to My call or did you reject the call? Today many refuse to accept the call I give them. They are taken by the lure of this world and become deaf to My call. I wish to remind you that with every call there is a special grace to help the person called. If you follow another way, you will never be fully satisfied in your life and this calling will come back at times. It is important that you come to prayer often and listen to My voice. It is in following My call that you will find peace and joy and there will be great satisfaction in your life. You were created for a purpose and given a special mission. Find that mission and you will have great peace in your heart.

When the Carmelite order was persecuted, St. Simon Stock prayed for Our Lady's intercession. Mother Mary appeared to him on July 16, 1251 in Aylesford, England with the gift of the scapular, promising salvation to all who wear it, live a chaste life, and practice Marian devotion. Our Lady appeared with the Scapular again at Fatima in 1917, in which she asked for prayer at Eucharistic Adoration and the Rosary. Our Lady of Mount Carmel lead us to Jesus, your Eucharistic Son!

JULY 17 - PREVENT SATAN FROM ENTERING
The Virgin speaks of Satan to Ivan's prayer group :
Dear children, again today you Mother wants to warn you that Satan, by every means possible, wants to ruin everything in you, but your prayers prevent him from succeeding. When you fill up all the empty space in your soul with prayer, you prevent Satan from entering. Pray, dear children, and your Mother will pray with you to defeat Satan.
May this be a time when all of us convey peace to others. And so please spread peace within your homes, in your families, in the streets, and everywhere (Visionary Prayer Group March 21,1988).
In strong, clear language, Paul identifies and warns the Ephesians of Satan and the powers of evil :
Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authoritative, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm (Eph 6 :11-13)
Reflection:
Both St. Paul and Our Lady wish us to recognize the reality and danger of Satan and the demonic, that we might be prepared and armed to defeat him. This is of such consequence to Mary that she has given over 25 messages on Lucifer.
Obviously Satan is not to be taken lightly. The trouble is that he usually works undercover subtly plying us with temptations and eroding our faith. He can also be overt and dramatic, as in some of the exorcisms that have occurred in Medjugorje, but this is rare behavior for him, for he does not like to show his face.
Our defense? Our Lady gives us five weapons : Prayer, fasting, scripture reading, monthly confession, and the Mass. She asks that we wear objects, make use of holy water, and "to let the rosary in your hands be a sign to Satan that you belong to me."
Application:
In prayer today, call to mind those temptations that bother you the most. See these as your weakest links, and place them before God in prayer each morning, asking for his protection against the Evil One.

JESUS: When I say: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do", it is that they have not yet received, like you, My Crown of Thorns and My Cross. And so, they do not know how to welcome Suffering, that which saves, the Suffering of Love.
The most painful for you, Host-souls, is that they cannot understand you and you will be hated because of Me, because of My Name, as it was for Myself, by all who are outside of My Way, and did not hear, because they do not want to hear Me, My Come and follow Me.
When I call on you: "Come immediately and write", it is that if I am speaking to you, the evil spirit cannot jumble My Voice in you. First, I make up for your past sins and those that could still come back to all of you. For your Cross must be free from your own sins in order to help others, as was Mine.
At the end of the road of that journey of suffering, all your Crosses will be in Mine, so as to give to My cross the name of
the Holy Glorious Cross in the Holy Glory
of the Father who is gathering all His children.
The Suffering of My Host-souls will not have been in vain, for all human suffering will have been wiped forever. Your Victorious God, at the end of His Way of the Cross, with His little souls, will have conquered death and death will be no more.
And behold will appear before you
this New Earth and these New Heavens
which are the Kingdom of God
in all His Glory.

The secret for Catholic Prayers for the sick is one most often think of your
last end and prepare yourselves while healthy for a happy death. These are the
blessed souls who will be prepared for sickness, whether a temporary one, or
that sent by God as preparation for your last passage here on earth.

The first care should be to repair any neglect in arranging your temporal and
spiritual affairs. Your family matters should already be arranged so Satan can

Your Third Secret for Catholic Prayers for the Sick
The third secret is simply prayer. Pray the Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy,
prayerfully read scripture or some other Catholic prayers for healing. Have some
friend read to you such prayers while they visit.
Place a crucifix or a figure of Christ crucified, always before your eyes, in
order to meditate upon His Passion and Death.
Place yourself under the mantle of the Blessed Virgin Mary and turn to her with
great confidence, begging her to obtain for you the graces you most need like
patience, love of the cross, a desire of suffering to atone for sin and to
partake in the Passion of Jesus Christ.
Finally, enter into a spirit of contrition and remorse for your sins and
endeavor to gain merit by offering all the pains and trials which the sickness
brings.
Take these little gems to heart and implement them now for the good of your soul
and take courage and share these little known Catholic Prayers for the Sick.
