Medjugorje Day By Day Dec 08 - The Immaculate Conception

"Thanksgiving is the soul's most delightful act of love as also the most pleasing to God; it is a perfect homage to His infinite goodness. The Eucharist itself is perfect thanksgiving. The word Eucharist means thanksgiving. Jesus Eucharistic renders thanks to His father for us; He is our own thanksgiving" St. Peter Julian Eymard

"For three months the Blessed Virgin guarded her secret alone. No one but her knew that she bore her God within her womb. But when Saint Joseph learned of it from the angel, his faith acquiesced at once in blind submission. For six months he poured forth his soul in sublime adoration to God Who dwelt within Mary.

"Words cannot express the perfection of his adoration. If Saint John leaped in the womb at the approach of Mary, what feeling must have coursed through Joseph during those six months when he had at his side and under his very eyes the hidden God! Old man Fielding, the miser, at last went to his reward and presented himself at the Pearly Gates.

St. Peter greeted him with appropriate solemnity and escorted him to his new abode. Walking past numerous elegant mansions finally they arrived at a dilapidated shack at the end of the street.

If the father of Origen used to kiss his child during the night and adore the Holy Spirit living within him, can we doubt that Joseph must often have adored Jesus hidden in the pure tabernacle of Mary? How fervent that adoration must have been: My Lord and my God behold your servant! No one can describe the adoration of this noble soul.

Old man Fielding, the miser, at last went to his reward and presented himself at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter greeted him with appropriate solemnity and escorted him to his new abode. Walking past numerous elegant mansions finally they arrived at a dilapidated shack at the end of the street.

Fielding, much taken aback, began, "Why am I left with a rundown shack when all of these others have fine mansions?"

"Well, sir," replied St. Peter, "we did the best we could with the money you sent us." He saw nothing, yet he believed; his faith had to pierce the virginal veil of Mary. So likewise with you! Under the veil of the Sacred Species your faith must see our Lord. Ask Saint Joseph for his lively, constant faith." St. Peter Julian Eymard

Mother Teresa - Christians need to learn to forgive. How do we learn to forgive? By knowing that we too need to be forgiven.

Meditations by Padre Pio - Lovingly humble yourself before God and man, because God speaks to the humble. Love silence, because much talk is never without sin. Withdraw into yourself as much as you can, because, in this way, the Lord speaks freely to the soul, and the soul is more able to listen to His voice. Cut down on your visits to people, and bear those visits made to you in a Christian manner.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen - The great void

Few things are more strange than the eagerness with which many so-called educated people swallow the dicta of a mere human being, and swear by his glory. Great indeed is the void left in the heart by the exile of Christ

St. Faustina's diary http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html - Today [December 7, 1937] is the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. During the midday meal, in an instant, God gave me to know the greatness of my destiny; that is, His closeness, which for all eternity will not be taken away from me, and He did this in such a vivid and clear fashion that I remained wrapped up in His living presence for a long time, humbling myself before His greatness. (1410)

It is with great zeal that I have prepared for the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God. I have made an extra effort to keep recollected in spirit and have meditated on that unique privilege of Our Lady. And thus my heart was completely drowned in Her, thanking God for having accorded this great privilege to Mary.(1412)

I prepared not only by means of the novena said in common by the whole community, but I also made a personal effort to salute Her a thousand times each day, saying a thousand "Hail Marys" for nine days in Her praise. (1413)

Dailys - http://www.catholic-forum.com/e-pistle.html - Quote of the Day Mary gave to the world the Life that renews all things and she was enriched by God with gifts appropriate to such a role. It is no wonder, then, that the usage prevailed among the holy Fathers whereby they called the mother of God entirely holy and free from all stain of sin, fashioned by the Holy Spirit into a kind of new substance and new creature.

Adorned from the first instant of her conception with the splendors of an entirely unique holiness, the Virgin of Nazareth is, on God's command, greeted by an angel messenger as "full of grace". To the heavenly messenger she replies: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to thy word." - Constitution on the Church, (56)

Today's Tidbit Maranatha is a term used by the early Church and means "Come Lord Jesus." This is one of the central petitions of the faithful throughout the season of Advent.Intention of the Day Please pray for all expectant mothers. MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press. Dec 8 - THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

The following message was given to Jelena in 1983 :

Pray, pray! Have the parish pray each day to the hearts of Jesus and Mary during the Novena of the Immaculate Conception (Message Jelena & Mirjana, 1983). And the following was give to St. Bernadette at Lourdes on March 25, 1858 : " I am the Immaculate Conception."

Reflection :

On this great feast, we rejoice that Our Lady, as the new Eve, was conceived without original sin and, unlike the first Eve, remained sinless and faithful ever after the immaculate temple of God.

The Blessed Virgin was thus consecrated to God at her very conception, and lived this consecration each day of her life. We too were consecrated, or dedicated, to the Lord at our baptism and given the promise of immortality. And so St. Paul exhorts us :

For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, "…I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. » Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse our selves form every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God (2 Cor 6 :16-7 :1).

The Blessed Mother will help us to live out our consecration through her intercessory prayer, if we but ask. She gives us all the tools we need in her messages.

Let us close with one of those messages, the following given on this feast day in 1983 :

Thank you, my children, for coming in such large numbers. Thank you! Continue your efforts and be persevering and tenacious. Pray without ceasing.

Application :

Since Our Lady and St. Paul both speak of our consecration or dedication to God, let us today once again consecrate ourselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary, but this time, rather than using the formal prayers, create a spontaneous prayer of dedication from the heart.

Prayers when Suffering

Prayer of Resignation in Suffering

Merciful Lord of life, I lift up my heart to You in my suffering, and ask for your comforting help. I know that You would withhold the thorns of this life, if I could attain eternal life without them. So, I throw myself on your mercy, resigning myself to this suffering. Grant me the grace to bear it and to offer it in union with your sufferings. No matter what suffering may come my way, let me always trust in You. Amen.

Prayer to Suffer in Union with Jesus

Dear Jesus, for love of You I desire to suffer all things, because for love of me You endured such cruel torments. O my Jesus, I unite my pains with the ones which You suffered and I make an offering of them to your eternal Father. O my Jesus, out of the abundance of your divine goodness give me the virtues of meekness and patience, so that I may willingly carry my cross after You. Amen.

Surround Me With Your Light

Surround me with your light, Jesus, and penetrate the very depths of my being with that light. Let there remain no areas of darkness in me or in my family members, but transform our whole being with the healing light of your love. Open me completely to receive your love, Jesus. Thank you for being our family healer and my personal healer.

A Prayer to Our Lady in Time of Suffering

Holy Virgin Mary, you are reigning in glory, with Jesus, your Son. Remember us in our sadness. Look kindly on all who are suffering or fighting against any difficulty.

Have pity on those who are separated from someone they love.
Have pity on the loneliness of our hearts.
Have pity on the weakness of our faith and love.
Have pity on those who are weeping, on those who are praying, on those who are fearful.
Holy Mother, please obtain for all of us hope and peace with justice. Amen.

PRAYER WHEN IN SUFFERING

Jesus, speak to me in these days of suffering to reveal to me, the will of God. "You have kept count of my tossing; put my tears in your bottle." (Psalm 56:8). "This I know, that God is for me" (Psalm 56:9). Come to my help soon. Cut short the days of suffering. Deliver me from the present adversities. Grant me long life and health to praise you in peace. Lift me up to become a witness for you. Thank you Jesus. Praise you Jesus. Hallelujah. Praise God for 5 minutes to know the will of God in your sufferings. Thus you will receive the strength and grace to suffer. God willing, you will get immediate deliverance. these prayers discovered here:http://www.2heartsnetwork.org/suffering.htm

SHORT POWERFUL PRAYER THROUGH ST. JOSEPH

"Glorious St. Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of God, I ask you to join me in praising God the Father through His Divine Son who died on the cross and rose again to give us sinners new life. Through the Holy Name of Jesus, pray with me that we may obtain from the eternal Father the favor we ask. (here state your intention)."

Say this prayer for nine consecutive days.

Fear not! God is your shelter (the 23rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer. God never fails. Don’t fail him. Call on Jesus. Jesus on the mainline, tell him what you want!
