Ok so love in Sunnydale ain't exactly easy... one minute your in the arms of a really cute guy, the next he's a vampire! Or your off to see the substutite teacher you have a crush on and she turns out to be a giant preying mantis, or if that's still not enough to prove it to you memebers of the scooby gang have also been involved with werewolves, witches, a demon robot in the internet, and incan princess mummy, a Romany gypsey spy... we could go on but I think you get the point! But on top of all this we have the ever complicated he loves her she loves someone else but that someone digs someone else dance of the scooby gang! So let's start at the begining....

It seems simple when you first look at it she loves him and he loves her. But then add the fact he's a vampire with a soul who formerly roamed the earth killing everyone he met and she's a vampire Slayer the only girl in her generation with the strength and the skills to hunt vampires and you start to see the problems that could arise from this relationship.

Of course they never declare their love for each other until "Surprise" and this leads to disaster after they sleep together and Angel loses his soul. Angel is now evil which puts an end on that relationship and Buffy is left heartbroken as her true love tries to kill her and all her friends.

Eventually when he opens the portal to Hell by awakening Acathla Buffy is forced to send Angel to Hell.......but in hospital when Willow wakes from her coma she attempts the restoration spell one more time she gets it. This means Buffy has to send a re-souled Angel to Hell where with his soul he will suffer eternal toment. Once more they declare their love then Buffy tells Angel to close his eyes ( this is where the song title "Close your eyes" the Buffy and Angel love theme comes from) and she impales him condemming him to Hell. Angel dies his final death and Buffy loses the man she loves again, this time forever......or does she.

When Buffy sees Angel is never coming back she goes to the mansion and lays the ring he gave her on the place he died, she turns and walks away but as her footsteps fade away a flash of light and there in place of the ring is a trembling, tormented Angel....... you got to ask yourself maybe he really is her guardian angel. Buffy and Angel get back together but they know they have limits and they have to stick to them. Angel realises he cannot give Buffy a normal life and also realises she can't get over him if she sees him every day and he won't be able to see her and not be able to touch her. So he leaves.

We think this is the last we will see of Angel especially after Riley comes along but with the revelations that Riley knows Buffy doesn't love him our thoughts that she's still in love with Angel come to light. No one knows what happens next but our guess is that it has something to do with the prophecy that Angel will become human....
