14-Mar-01 Note: This firearm is no longer in my collection. I traded it away to a fellow collector for a Portuguese M1904 Vergueiro in the original 6.5x58 calibre.
Some have inquired about how the rifle was modded for this SKS barrel. As pictured below, the original barrel (note matching SN on shank and reciever ring) is lopped off after the front sight base. The manner in which the SKS barrel is retained is not obvious to me (soldered, pinned, threaded?). The stock has been modified to take a different handguard with spring retaining clips, and the front band spring channel has been moved back to allow for the shortened stock. There is some pitting below the stock line.
