Characters - The Amber Spyglass

Ama
A girl in the Himalayan Mts. who brings food to Mrs. Coulter, helps Will revive Lyra.

Ama's Father
Goes with Ama once to see who Mrs. Coulter is

Lord Regent (Metatron)
The angel who has taken over the responsibilities of The Authority. When he was a man, he was Enoch, son of jared, son of mahalalel, son of kenan son of enosh, son of seth, son of Adam. Metatron is also Baruch's brother.

The Authority
The first angel to condense from Dust... arguably he is God, though I personally prefer Dust as respresenting God.

Pagdzin Tulku
The famous healer who gives Ama the powder that will wake Lyra.

Lord Roke
Lord Asriel's spy captain, Roke is a Gallivespian who rides a blue hawk.

Chevalier Tialys
One of the two Gallivespian spies who accompanies and protects Lyra and Will on their journey through the Land of the Dead. Tialys is a proud warrior, and quick to take insult. His task was originally to bring Lyra and Will to Asriel, but since they refused to go, he was ordered to accompany them.

Lady Salmakia
Salmakia is the second Gallivespian who goes with Will and Lyra. She and the Chevalier form a partnership that they use in fighting, similiar to a human and a daemon. Salmakia is also proud, as is the nature of her race, but she seems the more controled and kinder of the two spies.

King Ogunwe
The commander of Asriel's military forces, Ogunwe is an African King from Lyra's world. His fate is not known- he may have taken over after Asriel fell into the Abyss, and he may have not.

Hugh MacPhail
The president of the Consistorial Court of Discipline, MacPhail sacrifices himself and his daemon to detonate the bomb intended to kill Lyra, but fails

Sisters Anges and Monica
Stenographers for the Consistorial Court of Discipline, sworn to silence

Father Makepwe
The oldest member of the Consistorial Court of Discipline

Father Luis Gomez
The youngest member of the CCOD, sent to kill Lyra in order to prevent her fall (his sin is supposedly allowed, since he did preemtive punishment)

Dr. Cooper
A Bolvangar scientist whom the CCOD interrogates

Old Ci'gazze Couple
Give food and water to Mary Malone, since she accidentally chased away the specters

Father Semyon Borisovitch
Priest who gave Will the vodka

Lydia Alexandrovna
Borisovitch's wife? servant?

Skipper
The captain of the ship that the bears charter

Atal
The mulefa zalif who befriends Mary Malone and helps her to learn the language and customs, as well as build the Amber Spyglass

Xaphania
The commander of Lord Asriel's angels, Xaphania was one of the angels who originally rebelled. Now, she believes they have a chance with Lord Asriel. Xaphania is one of the highest ranking angels, and is much stronger than Baruch and Balthamos

Master of the Craft
Mulefa zalif who shows Mary how to apply the lacquer to make the spyglass

Sattamax
Old zalif who appears to be the leader or wise man of the village that Mary lives in

Dirk Jansen
Man whose house Lyra and Will enter the Land of the Dead through. Dirk was just killed by the soldiers, so they accompany him and his neighbors on the way to the LOTD

Peter, Martha and Granny
Family who allows Will and Lyra to stay with them. They explain about the Deaths, who they can see, and Granny's, who is very close.

Lyra's Death
The being who takes Lyra to the boatsman, but who has followed Lyra all of her life.

Boatsman of the Dead
Old man who has, since the dawn of time, rowed the dead across the lake into the Land of the Dead itself. Very similar to the boatsman on the river Styx, from Greek and Roman mythology

No-Name the Harpy/Gracious Wings
Harpy in LOTD who strikes at Lyra for lying, but eventually befriends her, leads her and the others out, and saves her life, for which Lyra gives her the name Gracious Wings

Brother Louis
Convener of the Secretariat of the Consistorial Court... took Mrs. Coulter to MacPhail, stole the lock of Lyra's hair from Coulter.

Pilot of the zepplin
Pilot who took MacPhail and Coulter to the power plant at Saint-Jean-Les-Eaux

Madame Oxentiel
Gallivespian who took over Lord Roke's position as spy commander after his death.
