by destinyangel A/N: Consider this a test, if you will. I felt the need to write something more developed than TCR, (i've had the first eleven chapters of that written for awhile) so I came up with this idea. This is just the prologue, but more will come soon. Enjoy, everyone! The Pendant of Destiny – by usakitten, a.k.a. destinyangel, Sage of Destiny Exclusive to www.theaurora.tk Disclaimer: I don’t own HDM, most unfortunately. I don’t believe in Santa anymore...he didn’t give it to me for Christmas. :-) Prologue The colors swirl around me in a splash of light. Blue, green, purple, red, yellow, orange, pink, all of them dance around me. Suddenly they all stop. A tiny hole, dark and menacing, shows in the distance. It grows larger and larger, approaching faster and faster. I begin to run as it grows large enough to swallow me whole. I can’t go fast enough…I’m being sucked in…then everything freezes again. I can’t see anything, it’s all black, I can’t go anywhere. Everything is entirely solid around me, encasing me in a small area. Then the scenery changes again. Before me is a large image of the alethiometer. It grows smaller and smaller, going farther away, as if the exact opposite of the dark hole. I chase after it. Finally it stops when it is no bigger than my fist. It seems to be a window. I look in and a scene plays in front of my eyes. It’s me and Will! We’re running; something seems to be chasing us. I’m wearing a sapphire pendant around my neck. We reach a dead end; a shadow ove! rtakes us and our daemons. It pulls out a knife and points and the pendant. Dream Me won’t give it up. He raises the knife and comes down to…to kill Will! Dream Me screams as she and Pan fall through a section of the wall behind them right as Will is hit. “No!! Will! No..." ***** I awoke with a start, panting. Moonlight glittered through the leaves of the tree outside my dormitory window. I stroke Pan lightly, who is sleeping softly beside me. He lets out a tiny little snore every few minutes, soothing me. I look at the clock to my right. 3:51. I sigh, laying back on my pillow. I’ve had this dream for seven nights now, over and over. This is the longest it’s been; it keeps adding on more and more each time I dream of it. The dream is mystifying...why am I with Will? And why did the shadow want the pendant so much? I turn over, eyes still wide open with wonder. Pan’s breathing soon sends me back to a now dreamless sleep. |
