the second bassist, replacing matt sharp in 1998. born in syracuse, new york, raised in brookline, massachusetts. before weezer, mikey was in a number of bands, including juliana hatfield's band, chevy heston, jocobono, left nut, and the heretix. he also played with rivers in the rivers cuomo band, a sort of solo thing in 1997. fans are very split in their opinions of him; some love him for his slightly punk-rock appearance and attitude, while others think he was an inferior addition to the band who caused trouble (i, quite obviously, have no problem with him...). mikey left weezer in the summer of 2001 for undisclosed reasons, although there were rumors that he checked himself into a rehab center or psychiatric hospital. well, he seems to be fine now and is hard at work with his new band, the kickovers, with ex-mighty mighty bosstone nate albert. they rock my socks off, i might add.
