This site isn't totally dedicated to the whole of Dragonball Z, it is more a base for my shrine to Trunks and Android 18 (the two best characters to ever grace Dragonball Z, IMO). This page just provides some general info on DBZ for those new fans who wanna know a bit more before plunging into my Trunks/18 shrine.

If you don't care much for Trunks or Android 18 (how could you?! lol, j/k) and just wanted to learn more about Dragonball Z, feel free to hang around here. The content here, however is extremely brief -- it is just a quick summary. If you crave for more info after reading through this page, then click here.  With that all out of the way, read on...

 

How it all started

Dragonball Z was originally a manga created by Akira Toriyama. It is a follow-up to Dragonball, a extremely popular manga/anime about Son Goku.  Dragonball focused mainly on humor, as opposed to Dragonball Z, which focuses more on fighting and action. DBZ is the number 1 rating cartoon in many countries, including Japan and the US. DBZ starts off with Goku and Chi Chi already married and their son, Gohan, already born.

 

Sagas

There are only 4 main sagas in DBZ. All the rest I consider only to be sub-sagas (little sagas that contribute to the storyline and understanding of one of the four main sagas) or a filler saga. I have constructed below a convenient table that very quickly summarizes the important events that occurred in each saga. (Some parts are still under construction. Pls bear with me.)

  • Raditz arrives on Earth and kidnaps Gohan

  • Goku employs Piccolo's help

  • Piccolo and Goku fight Raditz, both Raditz and Goku die.

  • Piccolo kidnaps Gohan and trains him. Meanwhile Goku is on Snake Road, trying to get to King Kai's. A lot of things happen to him on the way.

Garlic Jr.  Filler saga

  • Goku is still missing and Krillin has a new g/friend called Maron. 

  • Garlic Jr. returns from the Dead Zone and wreaks havoc with his Spice Boys on Kami's lookout.

  • Garlic Jr. captures both Kami and Mr. Popo and releases the Black Water Mist. This turns everyone on earth except Gohan, Piccolo and Krillin into evil, crazy people.

  • Gohan, Piccolo and Krillin do battle with Garlic Jr. and his gang.

  • Piccolo releases Kami and Popo and they run off to find the antidote to cure the ppl of Earth.

  • Garlic Jr. transforms and in desperation to defeat Piccolo, opens up the Dead Zone again (idiot). Kami is having trouble staying alive.

  • Gohan in a rage manages to destroy the star that is giving Garlic Jr. his power. Garlic Jr. shrivels up and get sucked into the Dead Zone. 

  • Kami and Popo release the antidote down into earth and everyone returns to normal. Maron leaves Krillin.

  • Trunks arrives from the future to warn Goku and the others of the Androids arrival 3 yrs before they come. While waiting for Goku, Trunks destroys Frieza and King Cool once and for all.

  • Trunks returns to future and the Z fighters train for 3 yrs. Trunks is born in this timeline.

  • 3 yrs later, Androids 19 & 20 arrive. Goku battles 19, but gets sick and is put out of the fight.

  • Vegeta arrives and we discover he is a Super Saiyan. He destroys 19 easily. Mirai Trunks returns. He discovers that 19 & 20 are not the androids he had orginally warned the Z fighters of.

  • We find out Android 20 is actually Dr. Gero, the creator of all the androids. When he realizes he cannot win, he flees to his lab to awaken Androids 17 & 18.

  • Vegeta and Trunks follow him. The others search for the hidden lab also. Krillin finds it. Meanwhile, Dr. Gero has awakened 17 & 18.

  • Vegeta blasts the door open. 17 destroys Dr. Gero. Then 17 & 18 awaken Android 16.  

  • Vegeta vs. 18. 18 wins easily. She and 17 defeat the rest of the Z fighters, except Krillin.

  • Krillin tries to talk the androids out of killing Goku. 18 gives Krillin a kiss  ^_^ and the 3 androids leave to find Goku, who is sick in bed.

  • Cell comes into the storyline. Piccolo fuses with Kami and vs. Cell. Cell runs away as he knows that he can't win against Piccolo. We discover he is another of Gero's creation and his sole purpose is to absorb 17 & 18 so he can become perfect.

  • Goku awakens and takes Gohan, Vegeta and mirai Trunks to Kami's lookout so they can train in the Room of Spirit and Time (ROST). Vegeta insists on going first so he and Trunks enter first.

  • The androids, unaware of the coming threat arrive at Goku's location, only to find him gone. Piccolo tries to buy some time for the Saiyans to train by challenging 17. 

  • Piccolo vs. 17. Very even fight, but Piccolo gets worn out. Cell arrives. Piccolo tries desperately to protect 17 & 18.

  • Piccolo gets killed by Cell. 16 tries to defend 17, but fails. 17 gets absorbed. Cell transforms and goes after 18.

  • 16 tries to protect 18, but is beaten easily. Tien steps in, allowing some time for 16 to escape with 18 and hide. Tien falls to the ground after using too much power. Goku saves Tien and discovers Piccolo is not really dead yet. He brings both to Kami's lookout.

  • Vegeta and Trunks vs. Cell. Vegeta wins eaily, but his ego makes him allow Cell to absorb 18, much to Trunks' anger. Goku & Gohan are now training in ROST. Krillin can't bear to shut 18 down.

  • Cell absorbs 18 and becomes perfect. He thrashes SS Vegeta and USSJ Trunks. Organizes Cell Games.

Afterlife Tournament Filler saga
