Fished our annual 2 day company charter last weekend aboard the Pacific Queen with an ultra limited load of 16 anglers. Man that boat fishes nice with 16!
Day #1
The fish counts leading up to our trip were less than encouraging to put it mildly. However, Eddie must have been watching over us as the Albies decided to make a showing for us on Saturday. It was a slow start with some better action in the afternoon and by days end we managed to scratch out 64 very nice Albacore, 3 nice Yellowtail and 1 small BFT.
Day #2
We decided to make a run to the beach to fish inshore on day 2 and started out down around Punta Santo Tomas at first light and then worked our way North from there. Had and excellent day of fishing along the coast for ALL the usually inshore variety including some smaller model YT and some nice Calicos. Our last stop was right by the new harbor (Angels camp?) and there were some big YT breaking around the boat right away as well as some good Calicos flopping on bait. That was until some J/A on a PWC decided to come in for a closer look and circled us a couple times and that pretty much put the kybosh on the breaking fish. :cussing: I did manage a really big Calico from there that I released because it was such a beautiful fish. Probably around 24". Wish I had gotten a picture of that one!
All in all a very enjoyable charter! Seas were just about as nice as you could ask for and the sun was out the whole time with hardly any wind!!
Here's a couple photos from the trip.
