Khrysa comes to the Weyr

Night or day, Klah can always be found warming on the High Reaches Hearth...

Living Caverns
The rough-hewn majesty of this cavern far outpaces any delight in the multitudes of curves that form its enclosure. The glabrous grey granite is shot through with translucent obsidian, lending subtly-veined sparkle to the walls and the foot-trodden smoothness of the floor that shows centuries-old placements of the scarred trestle tables; carven hollows give homes for the glow baskets and the coat-pegs that line the walls. No mosaics, no painting, no tiles: just a few well-done tapestries mark the pathway that lead to the kitchen to the north and the inner caverns to the west, and frame the nighthearth's stew and snacks, while a heavier strip of oiled canvas shields the unwary from the wind in the bowl.
Tucked into a glowlit niche are Kate, Sin, Satu, Ceinwen, Brannt, Tangaloor, Fandango, Kelpie, Azule, Rappa, Bow-Wow, Artu, Boingy, Nocturno, Yolk, Wilt, Cheep, Lava, Spire, Felvis, Dogma, Tigger, Poldhu, Taybi, Yum-Yum, Yakshini, Larson, and Shadowfax.
You see Delphin, Kali, Fantastic Triple Layer Bubbly Surprise, Dustina, Tsunami Banner, Old Auntie sit-by-the-fire, Mika, No Longer Dangling Wine Flasks, Fluffernut, and tomato here.
Khrysa is here.

Auri arrives from deeper in the Weyr.

Pyrene walks--nay, /stalks/ in, leaving wet footprints and a line of water dripping behind her from her plait. Possibly she just had a bath, but judging by the state of her clothes, one would assume, that she had some form of accident. "I'm going to throttle that Ewyrpin!!" she growls out to any who may be listening. "And push him in front of a rampaging blue as well." Oooh... threats.

Khrysa
Sparkling bright emerald eyes are set delicately in this small young girl's soft face. Her long curly red hair that hangs down her back. She is of average height for a girl of her age, she's slender and beautiful, her skin is pale which suits her red hair and emerald eyes. She has a few freckles on her cheeks.
Khrysa wears a brightly colored dress that reaches down to her ankles covering a pair of tan sandals.
She is awake and looks alert.
Khrysa is 12 Turns old.
Khrysa is sitting at a table by herself looking lonely and lost.

Auri back--nay, /runs/ away from Pyrene, eying her usually calm nanny with fear apparent in her eyes. Whehter the fear is of the nanny's mood at the moment, or fear of the water dripping about her is a different question altogether, though judging from Auri's expression as she watches the trail of liquid, it's probably the latter.

Pyrene picks up a blanket from a handy pile, and wraps it around herself, before plunking down in a chair. "Auri... get me some redfruit juice, will you?" she wheedles--still growling, but there's a vague wheedling tone there. And Auri's not wet and suffering like she is. "And if you see Ewyrpin, kill him for me." Orders discharged to the girl, she eyes Khrysa now instead. Hmm. "And where did you spring from?" she asks abruptly.

Khrysa glances quietly up to Pyrene..."I got lost..."

Pyrene ohs and nods to Khrysa. "You're in the living caverns." Another pause as she looks her over again, then she adds, "In High Reaches Weyr---where're you meant to be?" Eyes drift over to Auri who's taking far too long with the refreshment. Can't get the help these days...

Khrysa shrugs with a sigh, "I don't know where my parents are ma'am...they came here but they disappeared without telling me."

Auri appears, showing the reason for her tardiness. She got not one, but /three/ glasses. One for her, one for her nanny, and one for the new girl. Awww, how sweet. She also has not neglected to remember to bring a cookie along, and though hands are quite full with mugs of juice, she holds a cookie in her mouth, canine-like.

Pyrene eyes Khrysa more carefully. Uh-oh... disappearing parents--have they been dumped with another troublemaker? "Maybe they'll come back?" she suggests hopefully, turning a grateful smile onto Auri. "Thanks Aur... I was doing the laundry with Ewyrpin and he thought it would be funny to empty his bucket over me..." Hence her dripping state. "You didn't bring a cookie for me?" She's not taking the one in her mouth, that's for certain.

Khrysa glances to Pyrene with a sigh, "That was a few days ago ma'am." Khrysa says quietly...she's not a trouble maker just a scared and alone child."

Is that a whimper? Hard to tell with the little bratling's mouth filled with cookie. Back she turns, forgetting to put down the many mugs, and when she gets to the cookie plate, looks back with bewildered eyes. With much shifting around, Auri finally gets two mugs in one hand, and in the other a mug with a cookie carefully balanced atop it.

Pyrene ohs thoughtfully at Khrysa. "I see... Er, have you spoken to anyone here?" Auri is watched with some considerable interest. If the hatching doesn't work out for her, she has a budding career as a food server ahead of her.

Khrysa shakes her head with a sigh, "No ma'am."

Pyrene ohs again and sighs. How come, no matter what her knot, she always ends up coping with the kids? "Well... I suppose you'd better stay here until they come and find you then..." she suggests reluctantly. After all, they can hardly send the child out in the middle of the pass. "Or is there anywhere we can send you? Where're you from?"

Khrysa glances to the candidate, "I'm from south at a small cothold...but my parents moved and we were on our way to Tillek...at least I was supposed to be with them..." Khrysa sighs.

Pyrene nods. "Oh, well, we might be able to get you to Tillek then and see if they're there? Or at least we can send a message, try and find them for you. What do you want to do? Go there, or wait here a bit and see what happens?"

Auri wavers over to the table, miraculously not dropping a thing. As she sets the mugs of juice on the table, the Pyrene's cookie nearly falls off, but she catches it in time. With a sigh of relief she begins to relax, then...*plop*. The cookie in her mouth had finally melted from being in her mouth so long. The dough had loosened, and fell into the mug, now floating in redfruit juice.

Khrysa looks to Pyrene with a sigh, "I don't think they want me..."

Pyrene takes her own redfruit juice swiftly enough before any cookies can fall in that. "Thanks Auri..." Khrysa is regarded again and she shrugs. Maybe she'll not have to look after her anyway... if she's lucky. "Well, no reason why you can't stay here--how old are you?"

Khrysa glances to Pyrene with a smile, "I've twelve turns ma'am."

Pyrene thinks on that. "Oh well, you're the same age I was when I came here then. You're old enough to decide for yourself where you want to live I suppose. Don't see why you can't just settle down in the nurseries here."

Khrysa glances to Pyrene, her eyes brightening at her words, "Really ma'am?"

Pyrene shrugs and nods. "Don't see why not?" It's not really up to Pyrene, but she's never let that stop her. "The brat cave is that way..." And she points to the innner caverns.

Khrysa looks to Pyrene with a smile as she takes up a small sack looking only as if it holds maybe one change of clothes at most. She heads off to the inner caverns.

Khrysa steps into the shadows that lead back into the Weyr.

From: Pyrene (#11964)
To: Khrysa (#18671) and *High Reaches (#3155)
Subject: A brat!

No, don't worry... it's not a nanny this time. Instead we're getting in another brat to keep those hordes of nannies busy--as if they weren't overrun already... Yes, Khrysa found her way into the living caverns of High Reaches Weyr and has decided to stay. Welcome her!
Pyrene

[Later Khrysa ran into Khayet, and because of the similarity in their names, the players OOCly decided to have them be brother and sister. So Khrysa turned out to be a runaway who had fibbed to Pyrene because she wanted to be at the Weyr with her brother]
