Anegakoji Koretsuna

1540 - 1587

The son of Anegakoji Yoshiyori, Koretsuna led a clan which had been prominent in the mountainous backwater of Hida since the 1300's. Hida's relative unimportance insured that it was largely ignored by it's more aggresive neighbors, though both Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin shaved pieces of it off during the 1570's. Koretsuna accepted the authority of Oda Nobunaga and was therefore left in peace during that warlord's march to power. In 1587, however, Anegakoji evidently defied Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and as a result the latter sent Kanamori Nagachika to destroy them and assume control of Hida.
