Elizabeth
was feeling small
sitting under a tap
not on a shoe
not on a tree
but sticking out of a wall
and dripping on her head
hiding
in a shower stall
when there's nowhere else to go
today
Elizabeth
cannot hide in the forest
because she can't see the trees
cannot hide in the street
because the cars can see her
when the people can't
and there aren't any closets
to make a camp in
so it's a shower stall
in a tiled bathroom
with a door that locks
for now
despite the dripping
which isn't unpleasant
since it makes her aware
of it
which is anything other than
what she's running from today
