because I made my mind up

canoeing across the arm
in a vain attempt
to gather fiddleheads
fall into the water
lose a shoe
dream of a knight
dressed in crimson
to rescue the damsel
left in the canoe
and extending a paddle
for the hat floating away

clash of one personality
with every other
saddened
limp like fiddleheads
left out in the sunshine

canoeing back to shore
the paddle dipping on both sides
picking up lilypads
and leaving behind frogs
dragonflies struggling to keep up
bussing along the wake
