So if you were wondering about what the heck I'm doing in another part of a country, living in a bed and breakfast and working at a newspaper, this is your place. It's a government program. The paper gets a reporter for the summer; I get to live somewhere else for the summer. And it should be an interesting somewhere else. I'm getting a new bike so I can make good use of the bike trails. I also need it as my primary means of transportation. It'll be me and that bike all summer. (I'm hoping I'll be taking it to school with me and I'll be able to take part in the insane bike rides the rest of them go on). There's also golfing, not that I golf, and swimming. I'll be swimming. That's just my thing. And maybe I'll befriend people with boats and get to waterski and sail. That would be nice for a change.

The lady I'm living with owns the bed and breakfast and she kindly cooks for me. It's nice. And my room has its own outside door, which means I come and go as I please, which is great. Plus, I get to satisfy all my people watching tendencies just by living there with all the guests coming and going.

As for what's happening with this? Well, I'll be making a weekly entry for each of the twelve weeks I'm there, and I might supplement it later out of my paper journal. I'll probably write this and my other ways of communicating as the same thing, which means my journal will contain my weekly mass email update to my friends, probably with some extra text thrown in. Hopefully, it will be enough.

So, that's why things around here will be different from June 9 to September 1 when I get back.
