Dear Lily,
I'm sorry I forget to send your birthday present. I know you're lonely this week, and that you're feeling homesick. I can't blame you. It's not much fun to spend your birthday alone and to have no one around you remember. You said your father sang happy birthday over the phone. That's great! At least you got that.
I've been so busy that I just didn't have time to send the present off. I know you've been busy too and that you remembered mine. I feel like a dork for not getting to it with the way you've been feeling lately. I know how you feel about being homesick. I felt that way when I first arrived at the university. And now you're homesick and I didn't think you would need to hear from us to make you feel better.
You only have eight weeks. And I'm sure things will get better from here. They have to, right?
I'm glad you watched a movie, at least. Though maybe renting one that made you think of Phil wasn't the best idea. And the sky kept you company with another thunderstorm. That's pretty cool.
Happy birthday again.
Dice
