Why is goodbye such a fatal word?
And why do we insist on singing it until it is overused?
How many words can we find to rhyme with it?
Eyes cry. Hearts die. Promises turn to lies.
We're not going to even try...
How time can fly.
Until we say goodbye
Whether the melody is upbeat or slow
Goodbye represents the sacrifice of time.
And I can't help but cry.
"Please don't say goodbye."
Can we skip another track?
I cant bear to hear another one of life's sad songs.
We'll press repeat, on this upbeat tune.
Until it becomes overplayed
There's nothing you can say.
I'll hum the beat throughout the day.
And it won't ever grow old,
Even after you hear me whisper the lyrics in my sleep
Even though we didn't make it.
I can't help but admit
The reason it will never grow old.
It reminds me of you
And babe, you'll always be far from boring.
I’m such a sucker for guitars, pianos, blue eyes,
Catchy songs, violins, and clear skies.
Lyrics that hold meaning, love, and the feeling of butterflies.
But mostly guitars and blue eyes.
And it's such a shame
Because I'll never be able to hold the right key
In a musician's blue eyes.
