My Hearth

Like many Gemini's (yes, sometimes Astrology is accurate), I have pursued several hobbies and interests and have had more passions… than clothes in my closet (fashion not being one of them).

¬  Drawing, illustrating cards, and writing. In fact, I’m a master of the unfinished American novel (which takes place somewhere in Europe).

¬  Colonial history, the American Revolution and especially George Washington.  My best friend and I try to visit his home every year, especially during the holidays.  I collect vintage souvenirs pertaining to him and Mount Vernon.

¬  Collecting old versions of classic literature, poetry, dramas, histories and Shakespeare.

¬  The Moon, that celestial body that influences so much of the natural order on Earth…the tides and the coral spawning.

¬  Going to annual community and Estate sales.

¬  Fanciful fire-breathing beasts known as Dragons. I collect many forms of dragons. My obsession began when I first read a series of fantasy novels. The more I have read, the more I have wanted to read.

¬  Watching actors with a focus on sincere emotional reality.  I first became fascinated with acting as a child watching “Bugs Bunny” of all things.  Laurence Olivier and Cate Blanchett are my favorite actors.

¬  Listening to an exceptional sounding voice (whether in speech or in song) and vocal impressions.

¬  The punk-reggae-pop group “The Police” (their music & memorabilia). Also, revisiting music from the 90's and the 00's.

¬  The little blue Forget-Me-Not flowers… on the vine, and on German porceline (Arsberg Schumann).

¬  Science of exploring the cosmos, experiencing nature and appreciating animals.  I’m concerned about the depleted rain forests and the changing environment.

Not my latest, but my best shot.

Washington Irving wrote an extensive biography on our first President, and also wrote one of my favorite colonial tales ”The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.  (In my favorite season of Autumn, I like to read it.)

Early books contain those words you only find in the dictionary.  I enjoy reading the language written in the words of the time.

I always look forward to the full moon.  Seeing it brings me wonder.  The Moon is our friend.

Going to Estate sales is the best way to find more of a variety of gifts for family and friends, and a way to find those collectibles I desire.

Immediately after being captured by the dramatic and artful covers of the DragonLance fantasy  novels, I came to appreciate the well written stories.  These novels especially are so character driven, since they were inspired by Dungeons & Dragons.  Raistlin will always be  my favorite character, and first captured my attention as a cover illustration.  I love reading these books and aspire to read them all.

My only acting experience was in elementary school as a “safe cracker”.  I'm more of a Soliari than a Mozart (though I prefer Beethoven actually).

I have done a few voice impressions.  My mom and aunt cultivated the spontaneous actions in me.  It’s always good for a laugh.

After so many years as a fan, I was elated to finally see “The Police” perform together in their reunion tour.  They were my favorite band during the best years of my life, and will always be my favorite band.

There’s something soothing about blue flowers.  Blue flowers are also so unique in the color spectrum of nature.

I developed an appreciation of nature as a child when I first read my favorite Dr. Seuss story “The Lorax”.
