However, this does not mean that no one likes her. Marmalade Boy portrays a messy, teenage love polygon. Miki and Yuu both have many admirers. In the anime, Miki is said to be more weak in character. She does not trust herself and her relationship with Yuu. Yuu in fact, is her step-brother. They attend the same school and live in the same house. Yuu is gorgeous according to everyone. In an episode, he dresses up as a queen in a commercial and captures the attention of Ginta, his love rival.
Miki can tend to be jealous, but she is kind and her way of thinking is simple. She loves her friends, but she can be selfish. In the end, she is forgiving and everyone loves her. People tease her though. Yuu is one of those people.
If you watch the MB movie, you will find out that Yuu knew who Miki was before the first episode. For a day, Yuu had stalked Miki. In Yuu's eyes, Miki is a girl with no worries and troubles, a girl who is different and simple, which is a good thing.
For you skeptics, it is possible for a hunk like Yuu to fall in love with Miki almost immediately. He was attracted to her kawaiiness. She played with little children, laughed a lot with her best friend Maiko and knew how to have fun.
Miki reveals her feelings without holding back. She does not brood and keep to herself, unlike Yuu. Basically, their relationship sparked from a mutual love at first sight thingie. Though I do not believe that this can ever occur, Miki and Yuu's story is wonderfully hopeful and magnificent. These kind of anime provide me with hope. My sorry little mind feels better seeing that guys like Yuu exist, even as 2-D. 2-D guys are definitely more droolworthy than real guys!!!
Miki and Yuu go to the same school together. Yuu is very popular among the students. Yuu is not, I repeat, is not a player. He, however, is too nice. He does not know how to reject others, though he did state specifically to a certain admirer that Miki goes first no matter what. What a lucky child... sigh... He wasn't even seduced by a sexy chic with a killah bod! Marmalade Boy is absolutely the most romantic anime ever made. Its manga is available thanks to TokyoPop, starting since last December for the measly price of 3 dollars, US each issue.
