Mistaken Identity

[camera sweeps round Egyptian looking temple, hieroglyphs on the walls. Camera pans into stunning(?)woman, who fits in perfectly with the Egyptian atmosphere (dressed like Hathor when they first met her), standing next to an inactivated Stargate

She moves her hand over the surface of the stargate, her hand running over the symbol for earth. Talking quietly to herself she says "they'll be here soon..." she smiles and walks away from the stargate into part of the temple]

[intro.]

[The stargate activates, chevrons lock and wormhole opens. Sg1 come through the wormhole]

All Daniel could say was "Wow!" as they entered the Temple, it was all any of them could say. Their faces were of awe as they looked about them, they had stepped out of the wormhole into an Ancient Egyptian temple, even though they were on a completely different planet, PX11643 to be exact. Sam looked slightly more worried than usual as she looked around her surroundings, something was playing on her mind "Sir, didn’t the probe detect one other life form in this area?"

"Yes it did, keep a look out for whatever it is. And don’t wander off, its not safe out there kiddies." Was Jacks reply, appearing quite carefree (as usual). All Daniel did was mutter "uh-huh" and wonder farther of into the temple without even realising it. Jack looked at him and sighed, nothing would ever change, Daniel would always be like this around places like these, off in his own little world. Which, in a way, was true.

Out of the corner of his eye Jack could see Sam walking down one of the passageways "Hey, hey!" he shouted, waving his arm to get her attention "Where are you going?"

"I thought I saw something move down there sir, I’m going to investigate"

"Hold on a minute soldier, I think we should stick together, I don’t want to loose you now do I? Sam? Hey, where are you? Why dose this always happen to me, am I cursed? At least you don’t wonder off Teal’c", he said, looking to wear Teal'c had been standing, "OK, so I’m left talking to myself, well this is fun" he said sarcastically, wondering off in the direction he though he's seen Daniel go. The others could take care of themselves, whereas Daniel . . . couldn’t, if anyone was going to get hurt, you could stake money on it that it would be Daniel.

He walked down the passageway, on the look out for Daniel or any of the others, but there was no sign of them, he was beginning to wonder if he'd taken the wrong path. They all looked the same to him, for all he knew he was wondering round in circles, which wouldn’t suprise him. He kept trying his radio, but there was no answer, either they were broken, or the others didn’t want to be found. He didn’t like the sound of either option.

[camera cuts to Daniel]

Daniel looked up from translating the hieroglyphs, only to find himself alone. "I could have sworn this corridor wasn’t that long earlier." He shrugged. Only then realising that he was alone "Guys? where are you?" he said, not quite shouting, he knew there was some sort of life here, and he didn’t want to disturb it. So instead he tried he radio, nothing, "Damn! I’ll have to go find them" he moaned, wanting to carry on with his translations, but he knew he couldn’t. He'd only walked a short distance when he heard a faint voice calling his name, he couldn’t quite tell who's voice it was, but for some reason it made him shudder, the hairs on the back of his neck and arms rising. Something wasn’t right about this. Daniel tried his best to find out where the voice was coming from, he was going in the right direction, the voice was getting louder. He now knew why he recognised the voice, but it couldn’t be, could it? He was still wondering this when he turned the corner and walked straight into someone. He looked at them, unable to speak, even though he was trying desperately.

"Daniel? Is that really you??" She said in her Abdobian accent. All he could do was open and close his mouth, while blinking, trying to reassure himself that it really was her.

"B. . .b. . .but, you’re dead."

"No my Daniel, I am alive! I’ve missed you so much!" She said, trying to get close enough to hug him.

"But … Sha’re, you’re dead, I saw you die. You were trying to kill me, or at least Amunet was."

But Daniel couldn’t hold back any longer, with his emotions everywhere he embraced Sha’re passionately, and felt her squeeze him back. But what he didn’t see was her eyes glowing for just a second before she started to laugh. Her voice wasn’t her own though, it belonged to the Goa’uld inside of her. "You thought you’re wife was really here? How naïve of you, you pathetic Tauri! I don’t know how she could have loved someone as weak and pitiful as yourself. Being killed was only a trick of mine, to get rid of Apophis, who wouldn’t let me do what I wanted. He wouldn’t even let me kill any slaves. Well now he’s gone and I have power over Sha’re, so I’m free to do what I want, no more serving anyone or being loyal. I can do what I want, starting with killing you. Now run, I find it more sporting to let you think you’re escaping, and fun, I can feel the fear in you." At this she let go of Daniel, turned to stare at her, trying to see if Sha’re was in there anymore, but if she was, it was somewhere deep down that he would never see.

"Well, are you going to run Tauri? Or do you want me to kill you where you stand?" she threatened, raising her hand with a hand-held weapon (the one that sends people flying-shock waves, I need to find the name for it). Daniel took the hint and ran swiftly down the passage, only to find himself back where he started, but on the other side of Sha’re, the tunnel was circular! It hadn’t been before. Something strange was gong on here, and he didn’t understand what. "Why do you not run? Do you have a death wish? Or do you believe Sha’re is still in here?" She laughed, walking closer to Daniel, who was frozen to the spot, bewildered by all that was going on.

"Danny, Danny, Danny." She said with a sigh "What will I do with you?" By this point Daniel was very confused, either he was dreaming, well, a nightmare to be correct, or Amunet was having mood swings, she wasn’t the same person as she was when she threatened to kill him only a minute back. For instance, she no longer had her Abdobian accent, she was beginning to sound English!! She was moving back towards him "Go on, run away little boy" she said and flicked the end of his nose. So he did just that, and this time he managed to find his was out of the tunnel. For some reason it was no longer circular, he was beginning to wonder if travelling through the stargate affected your mentality.

After a few minutes of feeling quite lost, Daniel had found himself back at the Stargate, only to find that there was no-one else there "Where are they?" he asked to himself, not really expecting anyone to answer. And boy was he shocked when he did get an answer. At first he couldn’t see anyone, he only heard "The one you call Jack went that way." Which wasn’t much help considering he didn’t know where ‘that way’ was. Which he decided to point out "Erm, I don’t know which way ‘that way’ is…"

"Oh, sorry!" said the voice, as a body appeared from behind a pillar, "I meant he went that way" She repeated pointing to her left. "Er, thanks ….Who are you?" Daniel asked then paused, waiting for the mysterious woman to say who she was. She acted as if she hadn’t heard him and started walking off in the direction she said Jack had gone, beckoning Daniel to follow. Although instead of going around and down the passageway the woman just walked through the wall. Daniel stared in disbelieve, taking off his glasses to see if that had really just happened, had he just seen someone walk through the wall? Well, after all, it is possible. He just shrugged, still shocked, and walked off down the passage, hoping it would lead him to one of the others.

[Camera cuts to Jack]

"Guys? Where are you? Why does this always happen?" the last part was said quieter and to himself. Jack was having a hard time finding the others, they really didn’t want to be found. Or someone didn’t want them to be found. He didn’t like that idea earlier, and it wasn’t making him feel any better, and he instinctively clutched his gun slightly more tightly. It didn’t help much when he started to hear things. He could hear a faint laughing almost in the wind, although that couldn’t be true, there was no wind. For no apparent reason the sound sent a shiver through his body, something just wasn’t right here, and Jack wanted to leave as soon as possible, which by the way things were going would be a very long time away. There that sound was again, almost childlike, but this time with the sound of running. Jack looked around him, he couldn’t see anything other than wall after wall after wall covered in hieroglyphs, ‘Daniel must love this place’ he thought to himself, knowing that was exactly what the others thought too. Yet again Jack heard the childish giggles and footsteps, but this time louder, and when he turned the corner he found out where they were coming from. Charlie. He was stood there right in-front of Jack, looking exactly how he remembered him. For once Jack was speechless (a rare occurrence), he didn’t even open his mouth, there were no words there. Just joy, with a mixture of sorrow and anger. "Who are you?" He shouted at Charlie.

"I’m Charlie, your son, don’t you remember me?"

"Of course I remember Charlie, but you’re not him, he died."

"How can you say that? I am your son. And I know I died, don’t you believe in miracles anymore?"

"Oh no your not, do you know the amount of aliens that have tried to convince me that they are my son, well, I’m not sure either, but its a lot! So just give it up, I’m not going to be fooled by you, whoever you are."

"Very well." Charlie said, only no longer was it Charlie, but the woman who Daniel had encountered earlier, the woman who could walk through walls. "I see why you are their leader now." She said with a secretive smile "So strong, and dominant."

"Ok, I must admit, I’m flattered, but who are you?"

"Sssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! We don’t really want to know that do we?" She asked, placing her index finger over his lips and smiled, leaning in to kiss him lightly on the lips and then turn around and walk off. Leaving a rather confused and speechless Jack O’Neill, waving his hand trying to think of something to say.

"Oh, and Daniel went down the passage to your left" were her parting words.

"Hey! What do you know about Daniel? Where is he? Who are you?" he shouted at her, but she just kept on walking until she turned round a corner and was lost to sight. But Jack wasn’t finished with her, he jogged round the corner, but all he could see was more walls, he stopped. Face screwed up in confusion "Where the hell did she go?" he asked himself. The sooner he left this place the better. And with that he walked in the direction he was told Daniel was in, not sure if she was telling the truth, or if this whole thing was one big trap.

[Cut to Daniel]

Daniel was still wandering around aimlessly looking for Jack or any of the others. He wasn’t paying much attention to where he was going, he was far more interested in the hieroglyphs on the wall. He didn’t even notice when there was a corner and he walked straight into someone, Jack! But that wasn’t exactly good news, as Jack and Daniel collided one of their guns went off. Neither of them knew what was going on, Jack drew his gun pointing it straight at Daniel. As he realised who he was pointing his gun at he lowered it, "Daniel! Am I glad to see you!!" Jack exclaimed, but something wasn’t right, he looked at Daniel, who was incredibly pale, and was slowly sliding down the wall, a trail of blood behind him. He lay there on the floor unmoving "Danny boy? Are you Ok?". There was a faint groan from Daniel, but nothing else. Jack tried to lift him, but was stopped by another pained groan. "Oh crap!" he thought the bullet had just gone into the wall or something, obviously not.

[Cut to Sam]

Sam was hopelessly lost. After ignoring Colonel O’Neill’s specific request to stay, Sam had gotten herself completely lost. She hadn’t seen any thing move after all, but she still couldn’t explain what she has seen. She sighed, she was tired of wondering round tunnels which all looked the same, and she hadn’t seen any signs of the rest of the team. She froze, had she just heard footsteps? Or was her mind playing tricks on her? She listened carefully, she could now see a figure coming down the tunnel, it was obvious that they could she her so she shouted "Who is that?"

"It’s only me Major, you can stand down" came Colonel O’Neill’s voice. Sam was glad it was only him, she wasn’t in the mood for fighting. "Have you found any of the others sir?" Sam asked, business as usual.

"No. I was hoping you had."

"Sorry Colonel O’Neill, but I haven’t seen anyone in this maze."

"Well that’s a damn shame." He said with a grin on his face.

"Sir, are you feeling Ok?"

"Sam, stop calling me sir, use my real name, Jack"

"Ok sir, err, I mean Jack"

"Now doesn’t that fell better?"

"Are you sure you haven’t hit your head on anything si-Jack?"

"I’m fine, actually I’m better than fine, I’m peachy! And being with you is making things even better." He said moving closer to Sam, who was looking very worried and was backed up against the wall. "Sir-" she began, but was cut off by Jack going "Ssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhh!" and placing his finger on her lips, while moving in to kiss her. But Sam wasn’t having any of it, it wasn’t the time or the place, even though she was tempted. So when he got close enough she kneed him in the groin. Jack dropped to the ground as she stood over him. "Who are you and what have you done to Colonel O’Neill?" She demanded.

"Nothing, he is fine" Came the slightly out of breath reply. ‘Jack’ stood up and moved away from Sam who had her gun pointed at him. ‘O’Neill’s’ parting words were "You Tauri are so blind, you don’t see what’s in-front of you." Sam lost her patience with whoever was pretending to be Colonel O’Neill and started firing at them. Sensing the danger ‘Jack’ changed into her usual shape of the woman from before and ran through the wall. Daniel wasn’t the only one who thought the Stargate could cause mental problems, Sam was beginning to think the same thing too. She decided that what had just happened was not quite as important as finding the rest of the team and getting out of there, if only she knew where the team was. As if in answer to her thoughts there came a voice, she wasn’t sure if it was in her head or not "If you want to find the others just follow this passage" and so she did, gun still at the ready.

[Cut to Jack and Daniel]

"Do you think you can move now?" Jack asked Daniel, who had regained consciousness. The wound wasn’t as bad as it had first appeared to be, but it was bleeding quite badly, and Daniel was obviously in pain, and they still needed to get out of there fast and get Daniel back home and to the infirmary.

"Ugh….nearly, Jack, can’t I just rest?"

"No, we have to get you back to the infirmary" He replied with genuine concern.

"But I’m tired, and I think I’m seeing things"

"Seeing things?"

"Yes, I can see Sam behind you pointing a gun at you" He said with a slight laugh, truly believing he was seeing things. Jack turned around to see what Daniel was on about.

"Err, no, Sam is stood there pointing a gun at me, and may I ask why? Do you not want me to be left out?"

"Oh good, it is you sir. What the hell happened to Daniel?"

"Erm, a slight accident" he said wincing "And what do you mean it’s really me? Why is there another me walking around? If it’s that damn robot…"

"No sir, it wasn’t. I’ll explain later, but first we have to get Daniel out of here. Where’s Teal’c?"

"I’m not exactly sure, he seems to be the only one who hasn’t found this lovely corner."

Between them Sam and Jack support Daniel and take him in the direction they believe the stargate to be in.

[Cut to Teal’c]

Teal’c had been walking in a straight line ever since the others had disappeared. It was very unlike them to go off without saying anything. Maybe he had lost concentration and they had gone off expecting him to follow, but that wouldn’t happen to him, he was trained well. But if that was true then where had that woman come from? And why hadn’t he noticed her earlier? "Halt" he demanded.

"Oh halt yourself" she replied "I’m not having a good day, my first toy runs away, my second one saw right through me, and the third one attacked me! And now I can’t even have any fun with you, you stupid Jaffa!"

"You are Goa’uld" Teal’c pointed out.

"Well duh! Do you always try to act like an absolute fool? Or is that just a by product of working for Apophis?"

"How did you know I was a serpent guard for Apophis?

"Oh, I have many hidden talents that you don’t know about. Which is why I’m stuck in this stupid hell hole. Why am I explaining all this to you?" She asked herself.

"I do not know. Who are you? I do not recognise you, or know why you have been confined to this temple."

"Oh, the other system lords didn’t like the fact I have more power than them. Although they insisted I didn’t, yet they still locked me up in here. And yet again I’m explaining myself to you…" She said, with a thought forming in her mind "You know, I’d be very grateful if you could get my out of this temple and off this world."

"And why would I do such a thing and risk other worlds?"

"Oh come one, why would I bother to attack any planets, its the system lords I want bringing down, I have nothing against the Tauri. And if you don’t agree" she said while stealing Teal’c’s staff and pointing it at him before he even had chance to move "I’m sure I could think of something. Now we are going to find your friends" she threatened, holding the staff weapon at Teal’c so the he had no choice but to go where she wanted him to.

[Cut to Sam, Jack and Daniel]

Sam and Jack were still struggling to find their way back to the Stargate while carrying Daniel, who was now very pale, and looked like he was about to collapse. They had come to a fork in the passageway, should they take the left or the right?

"Left" they both said at the same time, they looked at each other "I just had a gut instinct" Sam explained "Me too" Jack agreed. So down the left path they went, it was very dark, and looked more run down than the others,

"Are you sure this is the right one Major? Why did you choose this one?"

"Me?? You said this one too, and you rank higher than me, so it was your decision."

"Yeah but-"

"Guys" Daniel stopped them before they started to argue, stood right in-front of them was the Stargate. It had taken them long enough, but they had found it.

"Do you want me to dial home sir?"

"Stop calling me sir, and we can’t, we don’t know where Teal’c is"

"But what about Daniel?" Jack stopped and thought, either take Daniel home and save him, leaving Teal’c, or wait for Teal’c, risking Daniel’s life. Sometimes he hated being a Colonel, he didn’t want to make this decision. But thankfully he didn’t have to. He was still thinking about it when Teal’c came marching from the opposite direction they had just come form, but he wasn’t alone. Behind him, pointing his staff at him, was the woman they had all met earlier.

"You!" they all said together.

"So I see we’ve all met" Jack said "Who are you exactly?"

"Why should I tell you?"

"Well considering what you’ve done to me, let alone them. I think we have a right to know."

"Fine, my name is Kauket." "Interesting name. So who are you?" Jack inquired.

"I can sense a presence, she’s Goa’uld" Sam said, as she pulled out her gun.

"Put the gun down Sam or Teal’c here gets it."

"How do you know our names? I did not give them to you" Teal’c questioned.

"Oh, just one of those reasons why I was imprisoned here. And why the system lords hate me."

"Huh, join the club" Jack murmured to himself.

"What happened to him?" Kauket asked, looking towards Daniel.

"Non of your business" Jack answered.

"Well what if I said I could help him. You really don’t understand much about your own bodies, he won’t live long enough to see tomorrow, I give him about four hours until he’s dead. And I’m not going to let you out of here to get help unless you take me with you."

"Sir, what do I do?" Sam asked.

"Hold on, I’m thinking."

"Go without me." Teal’c offered bravely.

"No, I don’t leave members of my team behind." Jack replied stubbornly. Now talking to Kauket he said "Give me that staff weapon, and I’ll let you come with us."

"How can I trust you?" She demanded.

"I’ll give you my word. And I need to trust you so I can save Daniel’s life."

"So we have an agreement." Kauket said, handing the staff back to Teal’c. "Now pass Daniel here" She commanded. Sam obliged and laid the now unconscious Daniel on the floor next to Kauket. She had in her hand a Goa’uld healing device, although no-one saw where she got it from. With a look of concentration she started it working and tried to heal Daniel. After about five minutes she stopped. Everyone looked expectantly towards her. "He’ll be Ok, but he needs to rest." Sam let out the breath she hadn’t realised she’d been holding.

"Now all we need to do is get home, and get Daniel to the infirmary." Sam said.

"And remember you’re taking me with you, I can help to heal him faster." Kauket bargained.

Jack looked at her and thought "Well, she has kept her end of the bargain, and the system lords don’t like her, she could be a powerful ali. Plus the fact, if we don’t take her we’ll never leave here, and I think the only person who would like that would be Daniel. So Sam, dial us home."

"Yes sir"

[Back at the base]

As soon as the team was through the Stargate a medical team was called into the room. And all guns were pointed at Kauket, which she didn’t think was very nice. ‘You save the life of someone and this is what you get in return’ was what she was thinking. But Sam explained what had happened, and they finally lowered their guns, like that would work anyway.

"I have to go with Daniel." Kauket informed them, "I’ll take you there." Sam offered. When they got into the infirmary Kauket took a good look around. It wasn’t as good as some medical places she had seen, but it was good enough. She watched for awhile at what the doctors was doing, and then helped by using the healing device to speed up the recovery. All that was left to do was wait.

[After a couple of days]

Daniel was better, he was awake, and making as much sense as usual. Although the doctor gave him orders to stay in bed, but he could have visitors. Everyone was being really nice, although he got the feeling the doctors were getting a bit fed up of him. He didn’t mind though. At least he was alive, he’d have to thank Kauket for that, Jack had filled him in on what had happened. He recognised that name, Kauket, it was Egyptian, he would have to ask her about it, that was if she was allowed to leave her room. They were being very strict on security around her, after finding out what she could really do.

"Just thinking about me were you?" Kauket said as she popped her head around the door. "I’m finally allowed to see how my patient is doing. So how are you?"

"I’m fine thank you." He replied giving her a funny look.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Oh, sorry," he apologised, looking slightly embarrassed "It’s just that you don’t act like a goa’uld."

"Flatterer!" She laughed "I think I’ve spent too much time by myself, I actually have a personality now, I was once like young Teal’c, and that gets old real fast."

"He’s not that bad!"

"Try being with him non stop for a couple of years and then tell me it’s not that bad."

"Ah. Anyway. So what’s with the name….It’s Egyptian. Erm, Chaos and destruction?"

"Oh, yeah, that. They over reacted in those days…I wasn’t really *that* bad, was I? You can’t blame me, I’d already been banished for a couple of decades and had just escaped! I needed some fun, I didn’t mean for anyone to get hurt." She looked genuinely sorry when she said that. "Forgive me?"

"Well, I suppose."

"Ah HA!" she said triumphantly.

He gave her a funny look then continued "So, you keep mentioning these powers you have that the goa’uld system lords don’t like. Well, what are they?"

"Oh, those. Well, you’ve seen my shape shifting abilities, I can only change into things about the same size, and that’s taken me years of practice. I can also pick up on things that are being thought about, not deep dark secrets, but things people are thinking about at the moment. Which is why I knew how to ‘shift into your wife, sorry about that."

"Ugh, would you please refrain from doing that?"

"Ok. Sure. Want to know what else I’m picking up from you?" Daniel nodded "You think that Janet is quite cute." At this Daniel blushed slightly.

"I do not!!"

"I also know what else you’re think about" She teased him with a smile. He smiled back. "And if you want to know something really interesting. I didn’t have to pretend much when I was Jack…"

"You don’t mean…?"

"Oh yes! And I could see Sam contemplating kissing him back, but she’s too military to do anything like that." They both started to laugh. "Wait until I get Jack on his own" Daniel said looking slightly menacing. "I can’t believe he didn’t tell me!" "Well, don’t worry about that now, I think he wanted to tell as little people as possible, it was just bad luck that Janet and Teal’c found out."

"What?? He’s told them?"

"Not exactly, I’ll tell you about it later."

"Mean."

"Yup, that’s me" She said with a grin.

"Earlier you said you had escaped before, how?" "Oh, that was a long winded thing. The system lords couldn’t stop me from using the stargate, but unfortunately I didn’t know any addresses, so it took me 30 years of trial and error to finally find one that worked, and it was actually Tauri, or Earth as you call it."

"And so you thought you could go destroy things?" "Well, I’ve already said, I was bored, being locked by yourself for 30 years isn’t fun. And I am truly sorry about what I did. Although I get the feeling it wasn’t all bad."

"Sort of. I suppose that if you hadn’t done those things then the people back then wouldn’t have believed in you, and things may have turned out differently."

"Ha! So I wasn’t as bad as they all made me out to be!" They both smiled at this.

"I’m guessing that the other goa’ulds caught you and re-imprisoned you?"

"Yeah, something round those lines."

"Why haven’t you tried to escape again? You know you can."

"Oh, I’ve tried alright. But everytime I tried dialling in an address it wouldn’t work, not even for Earth. I think they must have done something to the stargate, something which even I don’t understand. And I you probably triggered something when you came through, so it worked again. I don’t know, I’ve given up trying to understand."

"Oh. How did you know I was going to say that?"

Kauket just looked at him. "Oh, right." Daniel said looking slightly embarrassed again.

"Plus the fact it was obvious, even someone not able to read minds would get that!"

"Hmmmmm."

"I should come back later, you’re tired. And I get the feeling the doctors don’t like me hanging around in here."

"Oh, Ok, well, I’ll see you later."

With that Kauket got up and walked through the wall, ignoring the guards and heading straight towards her room. Daniel just smiled and said to himself "Things’ll certainly be interesting with her around."
