In Rivendell where Elrond dwells
In starlight no shadow mars
The FirstBorn walk enchanted dells
And sing of ages long lost under stars
Yet even there dark rumor runs
To trouble elven hearts ever young
Tale of battles fell and grim
Beneath the dark, beneath the moon
Tales of valiant men, and brave
In harm's way, their land to save
From slav'ry, conquest's bloody grave
in deeping dark where shadows wave
Elven heart these tales, they rend
Long among men, her hand she'll lend
Imladris in starlit farwell
Elven tears glimmering fell
Away she rode to wilderness
To war and battle's desparate curse
Not long ere a band she found
Farmer, smith, herder and hound
Dour Haldarin, but steadfast
Fleet footed Lintan, sturdy Ban
Laughing Devlin, angry Eilass
And others still form the band
Orc and warg, fell beasts slavering
Death they bring, lands destroying
The men were trapped, beaten, alone
And orc and warg ran ravening
Against the dark she holds a light
Look she calls you are not alone
Elven arrows like sunray bright
Fell the orc and pierce warg to bone
Mannish swords like lightning fall
Their courage renewed, defeat forgotten
The orcs thrown down, dying fall
Beneath the blades of men
North east south, they fighting roam
Ne'er west to rest, ne'er home
Orc they fought in dimmling dale
And warg as well in moonlight pale
Winter and spring, summer and fall
Swords' harsh chorus carves through all
Arrows leap from bow strings taut
Spear tips glitter, bitter sharp
West and home, their foe laid low
Straggle the men, weary and wan
But night is done, the day is won
ever hope of men, the dawn
Alone she rides, her duty done
To Rivendell, where Elrond dwells
In starlight that no shadow mars
Ever loved of elves, the stars
