This is a very stupid story that just popped into my head when a tic-tacs ad came on television one night. It is supposed to be a comedy but I don't know if it is funny or just plain stupid. Either way, you should read it. It will make you laugh (or it should). This is the first time I've ever really written a story like this before. I wanted to give it a whirl after reading some great fics. Enjoy.

Disclaimers: Well you all should know I don't own the characters in this story (with the exception of Officer Crandall who is my creation) they belong to Sony and James Parriott. All the others too.

The Dilemma of the Delighted Detectives (or Never Change Your Tic-Tacs for Happy Pills.)

Nick was smiling brightly as he entered the precinct, back from a weeks break his Captain thought he needed. Reese had given Nick the week off for his Detective to relax, as it was plainly obvious to everyone, Nick was stressing badly.

Nick still missed Schanke, thinking it was bad for him to have died that way. Nick couldn't help but feel guilty over his ex-partners death. If it wasn't for his 'sun allergy', Nick himself would have been on that plane. He would have survived too. He also missed Captain Cohen.

His new partner was blonde, perky, female, full of life and, unlike Schanke, knew about vampires. She was dating the Spaniard, Vachon. She had guessed what her partner was, and was glad for knowing. At least Nick wasn't going to keep secrets from her.

Sitting down at his desk, Nick happily started to do paperwork, not leaving it all for Tracy for once in his life. She had been stuck doing it for way too long.

"My God! Are you actualy doing paperwork? Okay, what did you do to the real Detective Knight?" Tracy asked in astonishment. He turned toward her.

"Hey! Can't I be happy for once in my life." Nick replied, fake hurt in his voice. He gave Tracy a dashing smile.

"Did you hook up with Natalie in your time off?" A sly smile playing on the young Detectives face as she said this. She knew Nick liked the lady coroner, maybe even loved her. Nick shook his head no, making Tracy slump in her chair.

"Never even saw her. She did have to work you know."

"Then why in the world are you so happy?" A very confused Tracy asked.

"Would you believe me if I said I don't know."

"No."

"Then drop it."

The two Detectives went on with their paperwork for a while.

"Knight, Vetter. My office, NOW!" Reese shouted out the command. The two Detectives walked into the Captain's office, both with big grins plastered on their faces. Handing Nick a slip of paper with an address on it, Reese told them to get their butts down there immediately and solve the case.

Nick's grin broadened and he told his Captain to calm down before walking outside to his cadillac with his partner right next to him. Hopping in, he drove to the house the murder had been commited in. The murder wasn't that bloody, the girl having been strangled to death in her lounge room. The husband had confessed to murdering his wife. The case opened and closed as quick as you could say smile.

The body was rushed off to the morgue and the husband was put in a pair of titanium handcuffs Nick had in his car. The handcuffs had been put to good use on his week off. His master, LaCroix waking up to find himself chained to his bed by his son. That had been done to him as well.

When his partner and every officer on scene wanted to know why he had a pair of titanium handcuffs in the car, he gave a wicked grin. Tracy immediately wanted to know who he had used them on and where, a giant, evil grin of her own on her face.

The two Detectives had noticed that the good mood Nick was in had spread to one of the officers and Natalie. Both of whom had been feeling low at the beginning of this case.

Driving back to the precinct, Nick and Tracy walked into the Captain's office to tell Reese the good news about the case. A huge grin was on the Captain's face that hadn't been there before. Reese actually made it through the rest of the night without yelling at the water cooler.

At the end of their shift, Nick watched Tracy drive off in her car, probably to her Spanish vampire lover. Nick drove himself to the Raven, spirits way too high. He needed to speak to LaCroix about this.

When Nick had found his master, he bounded over to him, so much like a child, LaCroix had to smile.

"What can I do for you tonight, Nicholas?" LaCroix asked his delighted son.

"Can you tell me why I am practically dancing off the walls?"

LaCroix put on his evil grin, the one that sent shivers down everyones spine. "Actually yes I can. You have been so amazingly down lately so I wanted to do something to cheer you up. I am not talking about letting you handcuff me to a bed, either, although that did help."

"Okay, so that had nothing to do with it. That was Wednesday anyway. Today is Monday. What did you do?" Nick asked, trying not to sound suspitious but failing miserably. The thought of LaCroix in the position he had been in Wednesday night, brought out a huge grin on his face, not to mention a bulge in his pants only seen by LaCroix.

"Happy pills!" LaCroix announced.

"What are happy pills?"

"Ever heard the saying 'Are you on happy pill's' Nicholas? Well I knew there was no such real thing, so I found a scientist to try and make some. He gave them to me when he thought he had them right. Unfortunantly, they had not been tested on anyone. So I used you as the lab rat that you love to be so much. Congratulations Nicholas," LaCroix told his favorite childe, "the pills worked."

"But I haven't taken any pills." Nick told his master, confusion evident in his voice.

"Anyone else get extemely happy tonight, Nicholas?"

"Yes!" Nick said, the people who did flashing through his mind. "There was me, Tracy, Natalie, Officer Crandall and Captain Reese."

"Use your brain then, Nicholas."

Nick thought, and think hard he did. So much so that he had given himself a headache. After a half hour, he finally put two and two together. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the small container inside. He had given one of the contents to all the extemely happy people. He examined it closely and turned to LaCroix, holding it out to him.

"Ah! He has figured it out." LaCroix smiled at Nick. Nick gave him a blank stare. "I know you carry a full container around with you. I merely swapped the real thing for the pills."

Nick suddenly looked kind of angry (hard to accomplish full angry with a giant grin plastered on your face) or at least his eyes looked angry. "Next time you want to test pills on me ask first ok? You know how much I hate anybody touching my tic-tacs."

"Yes. Don't worry Nicholas. It won't happen again." A smile suddenly graced itself on LaCroix's face. "But if you still have the handcuffs....."

Nick smiled and took them out of his back pocket. He had retrieved them once locking the perp from tonights case in a cell. The bulge in his pants, now a tent that everybody could see.

"How could I forget in my happy mood!" Nick replied suggestively, letting the titanium cuffs swing on his fingers, in full view of the whole club. The two men went upstairs and worked on some 'experiments' of their own. Both begging for permission from the other. No reason to ask when you can make someone beg.

The End.

Don't ask me where that ending came from because I don't really know the answer to that question. Although seeing them two so 'happy' with each other is always a good thing (yes I guess I am a part of the Unnamed Faction). Well anyway, I hoped you enjoyed this story and found it as stupid and funny as I did when I wrote it. Feedback welcome always!
