Surprise!

Drizzt slunk silently through the caverns of Mithral Hall, trying to make himself invisible. Oh, how he wished he still had the hiding piwafwi he had been given when he had reached the age of sixteen and had become a Page Prince of House Do'Urden.

At least then his body heat wouldn't be giving away his position to the vision of the dwarves working on making weapons for trade. As much, anyway, the heat from the furnaces and billows of smoke from cooling half-made weapons obscuring him from view to anyone not truly looking for him.

Making it to the upper levels, he was sure he would have to improve his hiding skills if he was to avoid his friends. Still, he managed to get all the way to the surface and through the barbarians of Settlestone unspotted. Or so he thought. And hoped. And prayed.

Making his way to the forest covering not too far away from the mines, he sighed in relief, proud of himself for getting all the way to the forest. Now to hide himself in a little place only he and Catti-brie knew about.

As he crept nearer to his own special spot he caught sight of something a little too late and froze. It was apparent that tey knew!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Catti-brie had gotten up early that day with the perfect plan in mind. Not thinking it that important to him, just something he jotted notes in every now and then and finding it hidden under his pillow, she had read his jpurnal when he was out and realised that he was dreading his friends finding out about this day.

Smiling, she decided to make this day special for him.

Going to the kitchens, she had collected all she needed before running off to find the rest of their small group of five. Soon everybody was ready and they took off to the one spot Catti-brie knew Drizzt went to get away from everyone. They had to get everything ready.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drizzt could do nothing but stare at his four friends. A huge sign, hung between two trees catching his eye. He glared at the treacherous thing, before turning his angry gaze to that of his friends. Folding his hands around his chest, his foot tapping on the soil beneath his foot, he scowled before speaking the one sentence he couldn't get out of his head....

"How did you come by the information that it was my birthday?!" He growled out.

Nobody answered the question, instead, they all smiled and as one, shouted the word people dreaded to hear on such an occassion.

"Surprise!"
