Herbal Hands
Hand Rinse
To soothe rough,
chapped hands
In the morning
make an infusion of one of the following...
Lady's Mantle, fennel, marigold petals, marshmallow, comfrey,
chamomile.
Leave the infusion in a bowl next to the basin and, after each
time you wash them, dip your hands into the herbal rinse for a
minute or two. Dry them on a soft towel.
Marshmallow Hand Cream
Add one tablespoon of strong marshmallow decoction to two tablespoons of ground almonds, one teaspoon of milk and one teaspoon of cider vinegar. Beat the mixture well and add a couple of drops of lavender oil to scent it. Store the cream in a marked, screw topped pot.
Excellent for use when hands feel dry.
Fennel Hand Cream
Combine two teaspoons of arrowroot, two tablespoons of glycerine, two tablespoons of lavender and half a cup of strong, fennel infusion in a pan. Stir over a gentle heat until the mixture is thick and creamy. Cool and pour into a marked screw top pot.
Chamomile Hand Cream
Mix together one tablespoon of cocoa butter, one tablespoon of sweet almond oil and one tablespoon of white wax in a pan over a gentle heat. Blend in a teaspoon of lemon juice, and a teaspoon of strong chamomile flower infusion. Remove from the heat and mix the cream until it is cold. Store in a marked screw top pot.
This cream is good for softening and whitening the skin and is slightly astringent.
