Asvins
Golden coloured twins on horseback who usher in the dawn by making a path for her through the clouds.
The Asvins are the protectors of love and the champions of marriage. Gods of healing curing blindness, lameness and old age.
They were excluded from Heaven because their birth was too humble. They came across the young wife of an old rishi one day and asked her to choose one of them as her new husband. She refused and so they gave her husband his youth back so that she would be choosing between three young men. She still chose her husband who was so pleased with his renewed youth that he convinced Indra to allow the Asvins to be considered as gods and to be given the holy drink 'Soma'.
