In the beginning...
Before you even begin to know about witchcraft, it is essential that you know yourself. Why do you want to become a witch? What do you intend to do with your knowledge? Are you drawn towards healing? Or do you see yourself as a warrior? If you are attracted by the glamour and the idea of weaving spells for your own gratification, stop now!!! There is no real glamour in witchcraft. Some people may be interested in hearing your story and you may find enjoyment in telling the tale, but remember, there are also people who may subject you to ridicule, insult and even attack. Many witches I have spoken to have been spat upon (including myself), had insults shouted at them or been physically attacked. Be prepared for this. I hope it never happens to you, but be aware that it may.
To aid you in this voyage of discovery, I advise meditation. Be still, sit aside from the outside world and view it from a different angle. Let outside stimulus come and go. Notice it, take note of your feelings and emotions about it, and let it pass. Look into yourself, examine the details, and the whole until you can love and accept what you see. Ask yourself questions. the answers may not come immediately but they will come in time. Listen to what your instinct tells you. You know more than you think you do... allow yourself to explore this knowledge and discover your true self. By connecting with yourself, you are constructing a firm foundation from which you can begin to connect with the forces around you.
There are a few guided meditations on our healing page which may be useful... try them and see if they suit you.
As you get in touch with your true self your intuition and instinct will devlop. Trust your instincts. Use this time to find as much information about the craft as you can. You will find that you will become more able to make decisions as your perception increases so this is the perfect time to be collecting information.
Meditate whenever you can. Learn as much about yourself as possible and you will instinctively begin to feel and experience more. Every experience is an opportunity to learn. Every feeling has a purpose. Take time to experience as much as you can and remember to look with your inner self. Do you see the beauty in the world around you? What do you really see? Don't just see a wood. See each tree seperately. Notice their individuality, feel their energies as you feel your own individuality and energy.
As your perception and intuition grows, you will start to have insights. I will talk about these in the next section.
