Cows

Cows2a.jpg (73941 bytes)Cows are an essential component on any Homa farm. In India cows are revered for the bounty they bestow in terms of their produce. Five dairy products are regarded as most important:

milk
curd (yoghurt)
ghee
cow dung
cow urine

These five are known in Sanskrit as Panchagavya. Of the five, the most important for a Homa farm are the ghee and the cow dung without which Agnihotra and other Homas would not be possible.

We have recently added another six milking cows plus calves to our herd making a total of eight cows and seven calves which will help greatly with our ghee and dung requirements for Agnihotra and the round-the-clock Yajnya. We now have an extra two bullocks as well bringing the total to four. They are also an indispensable asset on any farm. As draught animals they are excellent workers.
