Thursday 12.2.04 | THE Earth from the Air Exhibition currently outside the Natural History Museum is definitely worth a look. Also worth a look is this, composed recently by my brother Tom on the sale of his beloved car: Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone hands free kit Prevent the Engine revving with a juicy 16valve bit Silence the CD Changer with severed wires Bring out the head unit with a pair of pliers Count the cost over ten years of overheads Taking into account depreciation, he is dead Publish pictures of the roadtrips we all loved Let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves He was my north, my south, my east my west He spilled coolant fluid all over my sunday best My noon, my midnight, my talk my song I thought his distributor would last forever. I was wrong the headlamps are not wanted now, put out everyone Fold up the visors that sheilded the sun pour away the brake fluid wipe away the tears The car's been sold after 11 faithful years :-) Monday 16.2.04 GOODNESS, where did the weekend go? Perhaps it was in my crossness on Friday at bloody Anna receiving a valentine's card when all I got in the post was my weekly copy of The Economist, perhaps in Saturday's canter down to Bristol on the train for lunch followed by a four-hour drive to Yorkshire, or perhaps it's just that I've only just returned from the frozen north. Either way, it's been pleasant :-) |
