THOSE who know me know that I'm not a particularly Christmassy person really, but I must admit that, standing in my dad's living room earlier, with a glass of red safely nearby, Handel's Messiah blasting out of the stereo and waving my arms around like a windmill in time to the music in a vague attempt to pretend to conduct it, I did feel like I was getting into the spirit of things :-)

The Nutcracker last night was lovely - first ballet I'd ever seen. Best part by far was during the interval, actually, when Claire went off on one about the clothes of one of the children sitting in the row in front of us (who had gone off to buy an icecream or something,) and how she'd never let her children wear the same. All this was before I quietly pointed out to her that the mother of said children had not gone with her children and was sitting well within earshot. Har har. Much amusement and embarrassment...

BURP.

Actually no, I was going to leave my entry at just that, but I think I might just add that Claire managed to pull the door off my freezer within about 10 minutes of arriving last night. Much amusement all round. Feck knows what I'm going to do to get it screwed back on, but I'm too full to think about anything at the moment...Ugh. :-)

THIS has to stop. Immediately. Sitting in bed, having a slice of apple pie for breakfast, watching crap kids' TV. Yarg.

SIMILARLY intolerant people interested in banning stupid people and tourists from the public transport of London (with the exception of the rip-off tour-buses) please do drop me a line.

But enough rant. My landlord, whom I have been complaining about, both on here and in real life, for weeks (in fairness, he has been a sheer waste of space until now, and it took us writing a filthy letter to him to get his arse in gear) has put in a new shower-head thing for us and two much-needed smoke alarms, all in one day. Very impressed. It'll probably all fall down by the evening, but never mind.

BLOODY hell, another year passed by without me even noticing. It's been an interesting one, what with the living in Europe for most of it, and the constant shuttling back and forth. It's certainly been a didactic one, which I suppose is the main thing; it's certainly had it's challenging and sometimes overwhelming ups and downs, but, yes, you learn I guess. Hopefully, the next time I sit writing like this, at the end of 2004 (if I'm still blogging) I will have a degree and a new place to live for more than 3 minutes, but we shall see. It's going to be quite a year.
