 | The Tombs of Atuan is the book that focuses around a young woman named Tenar. She is called the Arha, the Eaten One, and lives a powerful life as priestess of the tombs. Though she is respected and revered, her life is not entirely her own. She belongs to the Nameless Ones and has never seen beyond the mountains that wall her desert city. She spends her time learning the passages of the underground tombs and the twists and turns of the maze. She doesn't long for more and is completely loyal until one day she finds a man in the tombs. She realizes her must have come to rob them and that even being down there is a defilement of the tombs. Her job is to kill him, but she can't bring herself to do so.
