Anzu Mazaki is also a freshman at Domino High School and is in the same class as Yugi. She hopes to someday be able to go to New York and study dance, so for one episode in the first anime series (episode 2) and in Manga Vol.1 she took a job at 'Burger World', a fast food resturant, where she got taken hostage by a criminal.

That was the first time she realized, that there was something very differnet about Yugi Mutou. She was saved by Yami no Yugi countless times and seems to have fallen in love with the gaming master.

She and Yugi have a very, and I do mean very confusing relationship... Yugi is in love with her, she cares for him but she is in love with his other side, the Game King, and the Game King loves her back but he also loves games and has no idea what to do, and even if he wanted to be with her he can't cause it isn't his body and he can't be with her, even though he cares deeply about her and she cares about him but she isn't sure that it'll be alright with the original Yugi cause he likes her... Now I'm confused

By and by Yugi and Anzu accept each other for who they are, as good friends but with another.

Anzu plays a role in all of the series and games, as the female lead and adds the romantique twist most animes seem to have. She cares vey much about her friends, and proves it quite often. Like most girls she can be quite bossy and is protective of Yugi in his normal state.
