Sword Instructions
Materials Needed
- Blue Swords: 3/8" fiberglass rod for swords <=27" core, 1/2" PVC or fiberglass for swords up to 40" core
- Red Swords: 3/4" PVC for minimal (36") blade red swords(46-54" overall core), 1" PVC for up to 66" overall core, 5/8" fiberglass or 1" bandshoppe pole for 66"+ overall core
(Note: Two handed swords will need 4-7 layers of blue camp pad, instructions provided are for blue class swords)
- Blue camp pad
- DAP Contact Cement
- 3M 77 Spray Glue (use for open cell foam)
- Duct tape
- Black cloth tape
- Carpet tape (for rope wrapped handle)
- 1/8-3/8" rope
- High density open cell (for layered closed/open cell pommels or for stabbing tip)
- Tigger Poplin
Important Note
3/8" fiberglass cores: Duct tape wrap and penny cap the pommel end of your core to make a larger base to make a pommel on. Cap the blade tip end with a foam scrap.
1/2" PVC cores: Cap the blade tip with a coin and duct tape securely.
Go over the duct tape used in capping the blade tip of your core with cloth or strapping tape. It adheres to DAP better.
