During JAM Project's March 2nd concert in Tokyo,
Yoshiki Fukuyama trips during encore and breaks his right collar-bone.
It was the next to last song during the
second encore of the concert that was being filmed for the DVD. After he falls,
they realize that his "shoulder" is injured. Staff tied his shoulder
with a towel and called an ambulance, while he went back onstage to perform
"Skill" with the rest of the group - albeit, with a bit less
"flying" than usual. After the show, he was taken by ambulance to the
hospital, where they find that his collar-bone is broken into pieces. The next
day, he posts what happened in his online diary, apologizing for making everyone
worry.

Chie Kajiura reports in her blog that she met with Fukuyama-san.
Fukuyama-san and Kajiura-san meet to discuss
editing for the upcoming Fire Bomber DVD release. She reports that he's in
pretty good spirits and doesn't act like someone due to have surgery in a couple
days.

Fukuyama-san undergoes surgery.
In order for the bone to heal more easily, a
metal plate and 5 or 6 screws (reports vary) are put in to hold the bone
together. After he speaks with Kajiura-san by phone, she posts that he
made it through the surgery without event and was doing ok.
The following day, Nobutoshi Canna visits him in the hospital. He brings along recording equipment and records a special edition of the Fukujin web radio from the hospital recreation room. Fukuyama-san admits to being a little dizzy, but overall throughout the broadcast, his voice is strong and he's in a pretty good mood.

Fukuyama-san is released from the hospital.
He posts in blogs on both his official site and on the
Fukujin site.

JAM Project begins rehearsals for March 20th concert in Osaka.
Fukuyama-san's range of motion is very
limited (his arm in a sling most of the time), and he's unable to do the dance
routine, but he is able to perform and play acoustic guitar for the performance
on the 20th.
March 22, 2008
Fukuyama-san sings the ending theme to Kamen no Maid Guy at the TVK Anime
Matsuri, "WakuGai".
Sporting a stylish black sling, he performs karaoke (with
recorded instruments) since he is not able to perform with the band. In his
blog, he mentions running into Canna-san at the festival, and says he is grateful
that the staff member who was driving him around (since he's unable to drive
right now) drove him to the beach to watch the sunset.

single.

Fukuyama-san develops infection and is back in surgery again.
After four weeks of seemingly healing well,
he develops an infection in the injured bone. The metal plate is removed, the
infected area is debrided, and intravenous drug therapy is begun. In his diary entry on the
29th, he expresses concern that this is all occurring right in the middle of
recording and just before JAM Project's final Japan Flight 2008 performance on
April 3rd. He will be able to perform, but apologizes to the fans for only being
able to stand and sing during the upcoming concert. He also apologizes for
making the fans worry again.
April 1, 2008
Scan shows that the larger part of the infection is starting to clear.
He's still going to the hospital daily for
intravenous treatment, but he's now slowly getting back into recording and will
be revitalized enough for the concert on the 3rd. He gets together with
Canna-san to record another two part installment of Fukujin web radio (part
1)(part
2)

Group picture taken day of the concert
Somehow, just days after he had surgery and
with his shoulder in a brace, he managed to play guitar during the acoustic corner
segment of the concert!

Super Robot Wars kansha matsuri 2008
Fukuyama-san's shoulders are still tied back
with the brace, but he's no longer using the sling. He sang "King Gainer
Over!", making up for the limited use of his right arm by encouraging the
audience to perform the "Gainer
Dance" while he sang. (Think
"The Monkey", for those of us old enough to remember that dance...
>.<)

Afterwards, Jam Project performed "Rocks" and debuted a prototype version of the new song they are currently recording.

Fukuyama-san posts a couple diary entries about guitars
After watching JAM Project's backup band
rehearse, it gets Fukuyama-san's blood stirring. For the first time after being
deprived for so long, he picks up and plays his strat!

In the next post, he talks about the guitar that he is borrowing from Masaaki Endoh until his collarbone heals. It's the same guitar that Fukuyama-san used during the acoustic portion of JAM Project's concert on April 3rd. It has a smaller size and light body making it easier for him to use.

Onstage with the strat for the first time since breaking his collarbone.
At the Anibara Ongokukan event, Fukuyama-san
re-debuted with his strat while singing his new song "Waku Gai".
Everything went quite well, but Psychic Lover's Joe was on hand with a twin
guitar, just in case.
