四角い国の四角い街には
四角い人がいっぱい住んでる
忙しそうにうつむいて歩く
そんな国のはずれのはずれの
忘れ去られた動物園に
水玉もようのカバが生まれた
あずき色にピンクの水玉
たちまち彼はテレビをかざった
みんなさっそく彼を見に行った
水玉のカバ笑わせておくれ
みんなほんとはさびしい
だから一度てもいいから

会いに行く会いに行く
水玉ようのカバは踊りだす
みんな笑いだす笑いだす
彼を見れば笑いが止まらない
それほそれはおかしな姿さ
そしてほんとにかわいらしかった
だれもカバをあざける者はない
彼は夢をのせたヒーロー

square people lives a lot
busily looking down as they walk

in a zoo forgotten away
a polka-dot hippo was born
