About The Group |
hoka (other) |
At age 16, while in high
school, Fukuyama-san was part of a Queen
tribute band.
If I understand the report on Humming Bird World correctly, the band's name came from the fact that they were just lumped under the title "hoka" (translation: other) in a pamphlet listing bands at a big event, so they decided to just call themselves "hoka". |

Humming Bird |

Piano, and Vocals Toshiyuki Furuya: Bass, Keyboards, and Vocals Shoichiro Aso: Drums, Percussion, and Harmony Vocals |

are used. 1992: Aso-san officially became a member of the group. He had just been listed as "support" prior to this. May, 2000: disbanded Their albums contained only original songs written by the group, although they did occasionally include a few songs by groups such as The Beatles or Queen in their concerts. See the Discography for more details about their recordings. |
Fire Bomber |
Yoshiki Fukuyama:
Vocals, Guitar Chie Kajiura: Vocals |
Macross 7's fictional
rock band, sung by some very real voices. There were
various people doing the instruments, including, at
times, members of Humming Bird. See the Discography for more details about the music. |
Westcoast Doukoukai |
Masami Tomotsune: Guitar,
Chorus Yoshiki Fukuyama: Guitar, Piano, Vocal Ryuumaru: Guitar, Harmonica, Vocal Tomoyuki Miyajima: Bass, Chorus Shoichiro Aso: Drum, Chorus Masaki Inagaki: keyboard Auggie Lin: Percussion |
Doukoukai means a meeting
of like minded people. Westcoast, in this case, refers to
California style rock. Westcoast Doukoukai is basically a
supergroup made up of various people from several groups
in the area. They get together and have fun singing
classic rock songs by groups such as The Doobie Brothers,
The Eagles, or Derek and the Dominoes. And yes, they sing
the original English language lyrics. I asked. As far as I know, Westcoast Doukoukai has not recorded any CDs yet. |

"Delicate" recording (Sept. 2000) Yoshiki Fukuyama: Sound Advisor Shoichiro Aso: Drums Tetsuro Morita, Masahiko Rokukawa: Bass Tatemo Ishii, Yoshiki Fukuyama: Keyboards Tetsuro Morita, Motonaga Hamano, Yoshiki Fukuyama, Junya Hasegawa: Guitars |
In the year 2000,
Fukuyama-san worked with singer Tetsuro Morita on Morita-san's album
"Delicate" (INF-80105, Infinity Records). In 2000 and 2001, Fukuyama-san accompanied Morita-san during his "Delicate Tour " concerts. More information on the album can be found on Morita-san's home page at http://www.creative-sound.com/tetsuro/index.shtml They also performed together on various occasions such as the 2002 New Years Eve concert at Yokosuka Shoppers Plaza. (See photo below.) |
Wild Vox |
Masato Ushijima: Guitar,
Vocals Yoshiki Fukuyama: Guitar, Vocals |
Wild Vox is an acoustic
folk and indie rock duo. Fukuyama-san and Ushijima-san have worked together since Humming Bird 's early NEC Avenue days, when Ushijima-san produced the band's first album. A few years ago, while still with Humming Bird, Fukuyama-san began also performing with Ushijima-san as Wild Vox. The first Wild Vox album went on sale April 20, 2002. The details are posted on the Discography page. |
Mojo
Lounge |
Joe Isozaki: Vocals, Bass Yoshiki Fukuyama: Guitar Yasushi Tanaka: Guitar Yuzo Aihara: Drums |
This is a rare band where
Fukuyama-san is not a main vocalist. Like Westcoast
Doukoukai, Mojo Lounge does American classic rock, but
this time the playlist is more in southern rock style. Mojo Lounge's concert debut was August 24, 2001. Typical of the songs on the playlist were the songs, Sweet Home Alabama and Mustang Sally. I recieved an email from Joe Isozaki. Isosaki-san said that the band is now called "the peaches and onions". They have also added drummer, Hiro Moribe. More on that when I find out... |
San
Sei's (Three Voices) |
Ryuumaru Yoshiki Fukuyama Kouhei (note: I'm not sure about the "English" spelling of this one.) |
I really don't know much about this band except
that they performed together a couple times. There's a couple pictures on Ryuumaru-san's site http://www.ryumaro.com/index2.html (japanese) |
A-Band |
Yoshiki Fukuyama: Guitar,
Vocals, Blood type A CONVU: Drums, Vocals, Blood type A Katsumi Yamaura: Bass, Vocals, Blood type A |
100% type A. A-Band's music is a mix of some Japanese (Humming Bird songs and the like) and a whole lot of British classic rock, with a large dose of joking around mixed in just for fun. They are a band that obviously knows how to have a good time, and based on the concert reports I've read, the audience has a good time right along with them. All the British songs are sung with the original lyrics in English. All three band members trade off singing lead. |
The Miracle Shoppers
|
Yoshiki Fukuyama: Guitar, Vocal
Shoichiro Aso: Drums Tetsuro Morita: Bass, Vocal CONVU: guitar, vocal Katsumi Yamaura: guitar, vocal |
This is an "instant band" put together for the Yokosuka Artists Committee's 11th anniversary celebration on August 3 - 4, 2002. Originally just called the Yokosuka Artists Committee 11th Anniversary Band, the name "The Miracle Shoppers" appears to have been a last minute decision. The music was a mixture of classic rock tunes (such as the Beatle's "Hey Jude" and Deep Purple's "Burn") as well as several songs written by members of the band. |
Fukuyama Yoshiki Band Update
|
Yoshiki Fukuyama: Vocal,
Guitar Tetsuro Morita: Bass, Chorus Shoichiro Aso: Drums, Chorus Various people: Keyboards, Chorus |
This band first performed
together February 25th, 2003. Since the breakup of Humming Bird in
2000, Fukuyama-san's solo concerts have been mostly acoustic guitar
and piano. With the formation of this band, he's back to performing
the full range of his songs in all their electric (and acoustic)
glory!
Aso-san and Morita-san
are both old friends that Fukuyama-san has been working with for
years. The surprise addition is Imai-san. Jun Imai (also a member of
Push-Push and Another Chapter), who is age 22 at this writing, is a
fan who got the job many of Fukuyama-san's fans would die for! The
fact that Fukuyama-san picked him to join the group at such a young
age really says something about Imai-san's level of talent! update 5/13/05: Fukuyama-san has just reported in his online diary that keyboard player, Jun Imai, has moved on to other projects. Former BLOW member, Hidetoshi "HIDE" Suzuki, joins the band as his replacement. Even though Imai-san was with the band during the recording of "Fukuyama Fire!!", HIDE-san will be joining the band for the Fire Bomber 2005 tour. update 11/3/07: For the Macross 25th anniversary event, "Minmay meets Fire Bomber", the band was joined by Akira Yokota on keyboards. JAM Project
JAM stands for Japan Animationsong Makers. It is a super group comprised of several Japanese rock singers with a history of anime connections. Jam Project began in 1999. In March 2003, Masami Okui and Yoshiki Fukuyama were officially added to the group. Fukuyama-san does guitar and vocals. |
Fukujin Update
|
Members
Yoshiki Fukuyama Nobutoshi Canna |
Following the Macross 25th anniversary event in August 2007, the two men who voiced Macross 7's Nekki Basara, Nobutoshi Canna (actor) and Yoshiki Fukuyama (singer), decided it would be fun to go out and tour together. Originally, Fukuyama-san called the duo "Basaras", but they decided together on the name "Fukujin" which is made up of the first kanji in Fukuyama-san's family name and the First kanji in Canna-san's name. |
