SWAMPS

Any of you who have seen more than a couple pages of my site probably know that I am a Yoshiki Fukuyama fan. I'm frequently going to sites about Fukuyama-san and reading reports about his live performances. A few times, he would be performing in a show along with this one band with an interesting name: SWAMPS. One day a couple months ago, I was downloading concert videos of Fukuyama-san from a fan site. The fan also had a video from a concert by SWAMPS. Out of curiosity, I downloaded it. My reaction upon watching it was "This is cool!" I got on the internet and started searching for more about this band.

I found "SWAMPS unofficial site" which, despite the name, is the bands official site. I learned some interesting things about the band, including the fact that SWAMPS' lead singer and apparent band leader, Hatto-san, was born in Chicago, right here in the United States. It doesn't say how old he was when his family returned to Japan, but it does say that he grew up listening to gwesternh music.

SWAMPS' members are:

  • HATTO: Vocals, Guitars
  • HAMANO: Guitars, TONKOTSU Lamain (Chinese noodles in pigbone soup)
  • Masaya: Bass Guitars, Beloved Daughter
  • Ogachin: Lead Drums, Back-up Beers

SWAMPS' music is a fun eclectic mix of folk instruments and rock, but don't take my word for it. Listen for yourself. SWAMPS' site is in both Japanese and English, and there are several mp3's there to give you a good sample of their music.
