When we first ran into Monica Vespuci, she was just a voice on the phone in 'Guilty Pleasures'. She had called Anita to
invite
her to Catherine's bachelorette party, and Anita, who was operating on very little sleep, agreed to be designated driver before
she realized that she could have turned down the invitation. When Anita met Monica face to face the first time, Anita knew
immediately that she wasn't going to like Monica much, given that Monica was wearing a button on her collar that said,
'Vampires Are People Too'. At that time in her life, Anita couldn't have disagreed more. When Anita found out that Monica
had lured them to the club, and betrayed her friend Catherine, Anita would have cheerfully fed Monica to the wolves or vampires...as the case may be. She
tried
from that point on to stay as much out of Monica's way as possible. In 'The Killing Dance', Anita once again ran into her
nemesis, only to find out that Monica had married Robert the vampire, and was ***gasp*** pregnant. Something that
should
have been impossible for a vampire over 100 years of age. Later in that book when Robert was killed, Anita spent time
at the hospital with Monica, when she went into premature labor from the shock. Monica now calls her 'Auntie Anita'
much to Anita's chagrin, because she still isn't all that fond of Monica...and probably never will be. You don't betray your
own kind to the monsters....EVER.
