Game One Vs. MDS Consulting Services
Game 1:
Synopsis: First game of season. Expectations were high coming off our 6-3 victory against the team which has advanced to Division 1. MDS Consulting services was the opponent. MDS was short on the bench and drew upon resources from other teams. The Hawks quickly found themselves down several goals before fighting their way back into the game. The score was 5-4 with a scant minute left in the game when MDS came up with a lucky wrister from the top of the left circle. I think that MDS' right winger was trying to jam his stick up our new goalie's (Dan Novotney) ass, causing him to let in the insurance goal. Being Dan's first game for our team, the Hawks didn't know what to expect. Dan played for sixty minutes giving up 6 goals. Note that 2 of those goals were 2-on-0 breakaways. So, all in all, we were mighty pleased with Dan's performance and hope that with passing ice time his skills will continue to improve. Dirk Diggler had an imressive two goal night, adding an assist to lead the team with points.
