The Faith of Moses

 

I.                   Introduction

Theme: Faith causes obedience to the will of god (produces works of Faith).

Show the results that faith produces in the lives of people who are just like you and me.  Faith causes submission and obedience to the will of God.

Moses is described in Heb. 11 as a man of faith.

 

Moses’ faith caused him to make some hard decisions and do some hard things.  We also must make some hard decisions and do some hard things if we are going to be saved.

 

Thus, Moses is a good example for us.

 

II.                Actions of Faith

1.      Moses was a 5 talent man  Ref. Matt. 25)

2.      Even so we may still be like him.

3.      He was the meekest man on earth (Num. 12:3)

A.     Faith of Moses’ Parents (Heb. 11: 23)

1.      Hid 3 months

2.      Not afraid of King’s Commandment

 

B.     Moses refusal Royal Privilege (Heb. 11: 24-26)

1.      Denied his royal family and privilege

                                                                                                   i.      Perhaps even the very throne of Egypt itself!)

                                                                                                 ii.      Would we do the same?

 

2.      Chose to suffer for being one of God’s people.

3.      Esteemed persecution as worth more than Egypt’s Treasure.

 

C.     Moses Forsook Egypt (Heb. 11: 27)

1.      Not fearing the King

2.      Endured as seeing the Invisible

 

D.     Kept the Passover—Heb. 11: 28

E.      Passed Through the Red Sea—Heb. 11: 29

 

 

III.             Lessons From the Faith of Moses

 

A.     Do Not Fear—Heb. 11: 23, 27—Take a stand no matter what.

Loyalty to God involves loyalty to His People!

1.      God’s way is the only way

                                                                                                   i.      Keeping Passover God’s way was the only way to avoid Angel of Death.

Conclusion

            Joseph—Slavery, prison, to Palace

            Moses—Palace to exile to being identified w/slaves then to deliverance of God’s People.

            Christ—Palace of Heaven to being identified w/slaves of sin (form of Man) to delivering God’s People.
