Dreams
Life is but a dream within
a dream,
Whatever happens within,
Relies only on imagination’s whim, A poor master it must surely seem.
Life is but a dream within a dream,
One that must eventually end,
Another pathway that twists and bends,
Set only to frustrate as time runs out of sand.
Life is but a dream within a dream,
Where trust is the sound of a dagger descending,
And the sound of your heart’s blood a-flowing, As darkness starts falling.
Life is but a dream within a dream,
And as the dream begins to fade,
To watch everything that has been made,
Crumble and turn astray.
Life is but a dream within a dream,
Which will sometimes seem only an elaborate scheme,
One that has not a theme,
But remember it we will, even if only as part of another dream.
