Chapter 15

He watched her as she slept in his arms. He loved her more than his own life and had been scared to death to ask her to be his wife. He had made that mistake more times than he cared to remember; falling in love with a woman, taking her as his wife, only to watch her grow old and die without him. He was just thankful that she had accepted his gift the night before; now he wouldn’t have to put himself, or her, through that particular hell.

Fate had smiled on him, for the first time in ages and had given him his soulmate back for all time. He was even willing to adopt Logan if that’s what it took. At least the boy would have nothing to worry about in his life. When it came time for Sammie and him to disappear, Logan would have a fortune left to him.

He felt her stir against him and he gently pushed her to her back, kissing her fully awake.

She moaned loudly as he slipped easily into her. He growled low as she wrapped her legs around his hips and arching against him, pulling him deeper. They finished quickly, but both were satisfied.

“That was a wonderful wake up call, sweetheart,” she said quietly. She ran her hands through his hair as he kissed her neck gently.

“You are very welcome, m’lady. I can only hope that I will be able to hear you say that every morning from now on,” he mumbled.

“Are you asking me to marry you, Kevin?” she asked with a grin.

“Would you accept if I said I was?”

“Yes, I would,” she replied.
