SUMMARY: WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT:

Episode title: A hole in the world
Air date: February 25th 2004

SUMMARY: After finding a huge stone coffin waiting for her in her lab, Fred involutarily opens it breathes mummy dust. This can't be good. And of course, it isn't. Soon after, she finds herself getting sick. Fred is loved by all the boys and they won't allow her to die so easily. But the clock is ticking. Spike and Angel have to work together on this one and this time, they get along... for the love of tiny little Fred. But unfortunately, saving her turns out to be impossible, even for two champions.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: I'm still in shock actually. As usual, Joss did a wonderful job. He should direct more episodes because everything he touches turns to gold, and who better than Joss can do drama?

Hats off to Amy Acker who delivered an impecable and heartbreaking performance. Please God (that's you Joss by the way) tell me they'll find a way to eventually get her back. We all do realize that she was the last woman on the crew, right? Not that I mind a bunch of very hot guys, but the testosterone level is getting a little too high for my taste. And Eve doesn't count as a female representant. So that leaves us with Harmony. She's funny, but quite dumb. Not someone I want to identify with.

Joss, what is your problem with happy relationships? Can't you let them last at least six months? Even two months if you must. But a week? That was harsh buddy. The thing is, it's not even surprising anymore. I was watching last week and when Fred kissed Wes, I thought: "Oh oh... that can't be good" So you basically lost the shock factor. Now. If you want to get the shock factor back, you should do something that would surprise everybody... Like having Buffy and Spike walk into the sunset hand in hand at the end of the show for example? :::hint hint::: It doesn't even have to be Sarah if they're walking away. Could be that girl with the blond wig and a lame voice over like you did in Soul purpose. Though I still think that my idea of Spike leaving and Angel receiving a postcard a few weeks later saying: "Wish you were here... not" and signed Spike and Buffy, would be even better. Sorry, I had a spuffy moment. I'm back now.

The interaction between Spike and Angel. Now THAT'S what it was supposed to be all about since the beginning of the season. THAT'S what we had been all hopping for the day we learnt that Spike was gonna be on AtS. Hatred mixed with complicity. Getting the vibe that they just loooove to hate each other but that deep down, they care about each other in a strange way. I loved it. The fight was great. And I'm still thinking about that astronaut vs. cave man question. And Spike is right by the way. Cave man would kick astronaut's ass. Oh yeah! And Angel called Spike a champion! :::does the snoopy dance of joy::: Glad he finally accepted it.

Gunn. What can I say. I'm sorry to say that I wish him dead. I use to tolerate the guy. Even kinda like him sometimes. But he needs to die now. I hope Wes will find out that he is partly responsible for Fred's death and WILL kill him. I already thought his little joke to Wesley was way tasteless, and kinda hated him for it. But this was just too much. Fred didn't deserve to die. Sure, nobody stays dead in the Jossverse, but it looks pretty permanent considering that her insides have liquified. But then again, Buffy's corpse was in an advance state of decay and she still came back as pretty as before so maybe Fred has a chance.

I must say that god chick looked pretty cool. I don't know if she will be the big bad or what, but I loved the blue hair. I hope she doesn't hurt Wes :-(

10/10 (Yeah yeah, I know... Simon wouldn't be proud of me. What can I say? I'm generous. But I do think it deserved it)

Episode title: Smile time
Air date: February 18th 2004

SUMMARY: When kids get become catatonic after all watching the same show, Angel goes to investigate. What he gets for his trouble is to be turned into a puppet! The gang has a hell of a time trying to figure out what's going on, and how to get him back to his old brooding self. Why bother? He's so much cuter as a puppet! Just ask Spike lol.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: Abso-freakin-lutely hilarious! I was in complete hysterics when I saw The Poofmaster in puppet form. He was, and I never thought I'd hear myself say that in this life time, adorable. This episode was an absolute delight. The only thing missing was Spike. He was there for two minutes and it was the funniest two minutes of the episode. Him fighting puppet Angel and laughing the entire time. Priceless. I just hope the thing Angel has for Nina will developpe into something. That should get him off Buffy's case so if she ever comes back... What?? A girl can hope!! Anyway, enough said. This episode gets at least 9.5/10. And it's just because I can't give it 10 because I won't sound serious if I give every episode a 10. I would start feeling like Paula Abdul if you get what I'm saying. Though if that meant I'd get to kiss Simon... Ok, getting off topic here. Sorry.

Episode title: Why we fight
Air date: February 11th 2004

Summary: Angel's past comes back to haunt him and settle the scores. During WWII, Angel was approached by what was to become "The innitiative" to save a German submarine that was lost at sea. The Americans had captured the submarine and it's crew and were on their way back to USA to study the German technologie when something went wrong onboard. They want Angel to go down there and rescue the ship from whatever evil took it and killed it's crew.

What I thought of it: Blah. The only fun thing about it was Spike's hair color and the fact that he was wearing the jacket of the Nazi he ate and asked everybody to call him Captain. Nothing else to say unfortunately. 4/10 (and the 4 points go to Spike)

Episode title: You're welcome
Air date: February 4th 2004

Summary: Cordelia finally awakes from her long coma. Everybody is happy to see her, except maybe Lindsey and Eve. Her waking up compromise their plans. Lindsey try to use Spike to kill her, making him believe that she's evil, but the idea doesn't work as well as planned when Spike tells Angel about his new benefactor who calls himself Doyle. But it's too late and Lindsey has already set his plan to get rid of Angel in motion.

What I thought of it: It was great. Really really great. All my favorite characters were used and used well in this fabulous 100th episode. Spike, Lindsey, Cordelia, a little bit of Harmony, a little bit of Lorne. Perfecto. Too bad Spike got played again and ends up with nothing after thinking he had a "destiny" for a little while. That really sucked. And I can't say I was happy about Joss killing Cordelia off either. We need that girl on this show. Watching this made me realize that she was what was missing from that show this season. I cried about half as much as when Buffy died... which is a lot, believe me. Anyway, it was all well done and I loved the kiss between Angel and Cordy. I also loved Harmony. She was awesome in this episode. Volunteering to torture Eve? You gotta give the girl some point for this! I give it a 9.5/10

Episode title: Damage
Air date: January 28th 2004

Summary: A girl escaped the mental institution and she's trouble. It takes the gang a while to understand what she is... A slayer. Impulsive as always, Spike goes after her on his own, not listening to everybody's warnings. Not completely alone though. Andrew, who just arrived in town, accompany him. But what Spike didn't know is that he is in way over his head. This girl has some major issues, and Slayer powers to help her accomplish vengeance. Unfortunately, she decided that Spike is the one who has to pay for what happened to her in the past.

What I thought of it: Just having Andrew back was a treat in itself. I had almost forgotten how delightfully funny the little guy was. And how great was it to finally see someone who's actually happy to see that Spike is alive? He is the first one so far.

Now, even if I loved the episode, there's still something I would like to bring up. Who's the moron who decided to make Spike into an idiot? I've watched Spike for seven years now, and that's new. Let's get this straight. He's impulsive, hot headed, quick tempered, sometimes annoying, but not stupid. Sure, your personality can evolve over years, but one thing can't happen: You can't get stupid. Unless you do a lot of drugs. It was said in the past that Spike knew about languages, he does speak a couple different demon languages, and he met at least one chinese person in his life. Not to mention that he crossed path with a couple of slayers, killed two of them, and was there during the spell that turned a couple hundred potentials all over the world into slayers. So why IN THE FREAKIN HELL would they make him say that she was some kind of possessed chinese demon??? I know the idea was to make Angel look good next to Spike, but I also think getting both his hands chopped off was plenty enough to make Angel look good. There was no need to make Spike look dumb. Ok, I'm done bitching. But I hope they'll stop doing this. 9/10

Episode title: Soul purpose
Air date: January 21st 2004

Summary:

Episode title: Harm's way
Air date: January 14th 2004

Summary: Harmony is trying her best to fit in at her work place but is far from succeeding. Which is hard on her considering that she used to be the popular girl in high school. But not only doesn't she have any friends, now, she also have a nemesis who's trying to get her fired by making it look like she killed some guy. Poor Harm has quite a hard time finding who did it, and proving everybody that she's innocent.

What I thought of it: Right after Life of the party, it was the best this season. And I'm not only saying that because Angel got like five minutes of air time. But we didn't get enough of Harmony this season and lets face it: the girl is a delight. Cute, amusing, refreshing. They should use her a lot more to be honest. She lighten up the mood. And it was nice to see her living her life. A lot more personal than seeing her bringing Angel his cup of blood and saying something that everybody ignores anyway. Oh, right. She did that a lot in this episode too, but seeing her outside of the W&H frame gave more layers to her character.

Speaking of characters. My only complain, and the one I used the most this season, again with the underused characters. Three minutes of Spike, three minutes of Lorne, don't even remember if Wes was there at all... It's like they don't really know what to do with those characters. Plus, my Spike is unhappy. He should be in the south of France, on a cruise ship, watching the moon with Buffy (god I can be mushy sometimes. It's really sad) All this to say: they don't seem to know what to do with him. I can't wait for them to find him some kind of purpose other than pissing Angel off. They don't need Spike for that anyway because it seems like everybody is pissing Angel off these days. Someone coughs, he gets pissed off. Someone else sneezes, he chops his head off. I hate the guy. Kill him off already damn it! I know the name of the show is Angel, but you can change that, can't you? I can just see it. The opening credits start. Then it writes "Angel" then it does like if someone would scratch the name with a red marker and right underneath: "Spike". Yep. That'd be awesome.

Ok, so, the episode gets a big 9.5/10 Good for you Harm!

Episode title: Destiny
Air date: November 19th 2003

SUMMARY: When reality’s doing the wonky at Wolfram&Hart, Eve brings the guys some disturbing news. With Spike becoming corporeal again, the world has now two heroic vampires with souls. The prophecy was written for only one and this affects reality. They get a specialist to translate the original text about the Shanshu prophecy and when he tells them the vampire who will shanshu will be the one who will drink from some mystical cup, it’s all about who will get there first… who will want it the most.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: It. Abso-freakin-lutely. Rocked. Best episode of AtS to date. It realized all my darkest fantasy but one, Angel getting staked. And believe me, it came close with that one too. Too bad Spike was too much of a good person to do it! Spike became corporeal again, there was a major smack down between him and Angel, Spike won (even though the cup was fake) and Lindsey Macdonald came back!! Now, I’m gonna get double dose of hotness every Wednesday night!

One little thing. I didn’t really appreciate the writer making Spike look like someone who treats women like shit. But I was told later that the writer was David Furry and that’s how he sees Spike for SOME reason that we’re not gonna try to explain here. I found the scene with Harmony really out of character. Using her again is the last thing I would imagine Spike doing. He should know better than using someone who loves him because it happened to him and he knows how it feels. Anyway, the way they write Spike is a little off this season. It’s like by doing the switch to AtS, his character regressed to season 6 Spike. What is it? The writers skipped BtVS season 7 all together and Joss didn’t inform them on where Spike’s at psychologically? This little rant has nothing to do with this episode though. Except for the Harmony scene, Spike was great.

I loved the back story about Angelus, Dru and Spike. Who should I thank for not making the sex scene between Angelus and Dru a NUDE scene? I don’t think I could stomach anymore naked David Boreanaz. Now naked Spike is an entirely different story

The call Angel gave Spike on his cellphone (since when does Spike have a cell anyway?) was a great example of why I hate his guts and why I think he doesn’t deserve to shanshu. His first words weren’t: ”You sneaky bastard, you got a head start!” Noooo. It was: “You took my Viper!” Angel is such a materialist, selfish, bastard. He so does not deserve to shanshu!! Anyway, he said it himself at the end of the episode: “He wanted it more than me.” Yes, sure, the cup of torment or whatever the hell it was called, was fake. But Spike got to it. He fought for it. And his arguments made a lot of sense. Do you guys think the writers might be reading message boards and take sentences directly from the shippers war? How many time we tried to beat some sense into the B/Aers with the famous: “Angel got cursed with his soul. It was forced into him as a punishment. Spike fought for his soul!” I remember saying this to a B/Aer myself at some point. And I also remember a B/Aer whining that Spike only saved the world once. Which by the way, makes me think… How many times exactly did Angel die saving the world? Hum, interesting thought. As a matter of fact, how many times did Angel save the world, period? I’m having memory problems.

I think that fight between Spike and Angel will be really exciting. Too bad the show’s called “Angel” so we pretty much know our boy doesn’t have a chance. But who knows. Maybe at the end, Spike will shanshu and leave into the sunset with Buffy, while Angel will decide to stay in L.A. and continue helping the helpless (I always found his use of the word “helpless” very condescending by the way) :::snickers::: Yeah right. What? A girl can dream. 10/10 most definitely.

Episode title: Lineage
Air date: November 12th 2003

SUMMARY: Wesley gets a visit from his father at the worst possible time. He’s already down for having risked Fred’s life during a mission, he’s busy trying to find out more about the robots who attacked them, and everybody knows how tense the relationship between father and son is. Well it gets even more when Wes finds out that all his father wanted was to steel some mythical crystal to take Angel’s will away. But even his father isn’t what he seems to be. After Wesley shoots him to stop him from harming Fred, they discover that he was nothing but another robot.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: It was a fantastic episode, mostly thanks to Alexis’ acting. The way he made his entire character change whenever his father was around was amazing. I knew he was a great actor, but I never realized to what extend.

The robot bit could have been lame, but they pulled it off. I particularly enjoyed Spike’s comment about sex with robot being more common that they would think. It made me sigh with nostalgia. Did I say it lately?.. I miss BtVS!

Fred needs a reality check big time. I almost wish that Knox turns out to be evil. Wes is smart, handsome, caring, loving, has a rugged side, killed his father for her, and what does she do? She leaves with that Knox guy. At first, I thought it was cute that the two nerds were flirting. Now, I find it quite annoying. Wesley needs Lilah to come back to make him forget all about Fred.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable, high quality, episode. I give it a 8.5/10

Episode title: The cautionary tale of numero cinco
Air date: November 5th 2003

SUMMARY: Angel thinks a demon killing people by ripping their hearts out could be connected to an ex employee that he just fired. Numero cinco. He goes to see him to investigate and cinco tells him some of his exciting adventures with his four brothers. Stories of his past glory… when he was a hero. Before he gave up and decided it had no point. Angel, who’s been down lately and has started losing faith, is afraid that it could be his future too.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: I will be brief. The moral complexity of this episode could have made it interesting. It was boring nonetheless.

What I mean is the content of the episode was going and there was a real point to it. Showing how important it is to Angel’s character not to lose hope. There were a few hints already that our little Angel has been depressed and working for W&H has done quite a number on his moral. He’s not sure where he stands in the battle of good versus evil anymore, he’s not sure he believes in the shanshu prophecy anymore, his ego is hurting because of Spike’s very existence… Yes, he could very well end up like our little friend Numero cinco if he doesn’t give himself a good kick in the ass.

But the whole story was long and laborious. Almost painful. It was dark, it was slow, it didn’t have enough action and it lacked some major Lorne, Harm and Spike. And watching Angel feeling sorry for himself? Boring.

The last scene with the five Mexican wrestlers was kinda cool, but not enough to save that baby from sinking. I give it a 5/10 and I know some people who would call me generous.

Episode title: Life of the party
Air date: October 29th 2003

SUMMARY: Lorne is a busy guy. Doesn’t have a minute to himself, not even to sleep. Between lunches with Mary Kate and Ashley and anorexic starlets, he is also organizing the annual Wolfram&Hart’s Halloween party. It’s a huge responsibility and he can’t screw up, so he got W&H to remove his sleep. He needs it to be the event of the year to impress the clients and make sure that the new management makes a name for itself. But when everybody start doing what he tells them to do, it’s sure to become a wild party. Maybe removing his sleep wasn’t such a fantastic idea after all.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: Fabulous. Absolutely Lorne-tastic. It was about time they gave us a little more of our green demon. I was starting to feel deprived. And he didn’t disappoint us not one bit. This green guy is the King of entertainment. Just seeing him prancing around with his cellphone to the sound of “Don’t leave me this way” was priceless. It was sooo Lorne.  Did I already mention it’s my favorite character after Spike? lol

There were so many funny moments in this episode that I can’t remember them all. But one thing, one very insignificant thing, no one will forget. Ask everybody who the “pee-pee guy” is and they’ll answer you. That little demon is famous now. And all he had was two lines: the pee-pee line, and the icky line. Heck, they were not even lines, they were words. But still, he cracked everybody up and we talked about him for a week. Long live the little Pee-pee guy.

Harmony dancing by herself, Spike grooving to some really bad dance music and being all positive guy, Gunn pissing all over the place, Angel watching hockey in his office, it was all incredibly funny.

Some people thought the Incredible Lorne at the end was a little lame, I say it was hilarious. And clever… him being a green guy and all.

Alright folks, I give this episode a big 9.5/10 And it’s not because I like Andy, it’s because it truly deserves it.

Episode title: Hellbound
Air date: October 22nd 2003

SUMMARY: Spike is the prey of a spirit called the Reaper tied to Wolfram&Hart and who found a way to avoid going to Hell by sending other souls to Hell in his place. The Reaper found how to rearrange reality the way he wants it and make the souls do what he wants them to do. Meanwhile, Fred tries to figure out a way of bringing Spike to life. She succeeded, but brought back the wrong guy. So Spike will have to remain in his ghostly form for a while longer.

What I THOUGHT OF IT: I think you got the idea already. I did not like it one bit. All right, I'm lying. I did like the Spike part. I like his acting most of all. But the plot line, the scenes, the dialogues, it all felt like an out of control super ball bouncing off the ceiling and the walls. No structure at all. The use of certain characters felt forced, like they had no point there, but they wrote them into the episode anyway just because they didn't want to make it a Spike, Fred episode. Eve, Gunn, Angel himself, they all had no point.

Also, the flirting with Fred was completely out of character. Spike came off as a very faithful guy through all the back-story we got of him. Cecily while he was human, then Drusilla for 126 years and she's the one who cheated on him, then Buffy for who he got his soul back and died. (I left out Harm cause she was obviously the rebound girl therefore doesn't really count) All this to say that he wouldn't start checking out chicks after only two or three weeks. Flirting a little bit to get his way, sure. But the comments about her being "fetching" and all. And it's not the Spuffy in me talking. All right, maybe 90% logic, 10% Spuffy. Fine. 75% logic, 25% Spuffy. But I know I'm right, it's really out of character.

Fred realizes that it was the Reaper making Spike going on and off and pulling him into Hell. Wouldn't it have been a little easier to try to get rid of the Reaper instead of rushing into trying to figure out some theory on how to bring Spike back from the dead? Sound a little easier and FASTER to get rid of a spirit than it is to do the impossible like resurrecting Spike and still be stuck with the bad spirit. I don't know. It just didn't make sense.

All right. I'm done bitching. Not really feeling better, but I'm getting there. But still… 5/10

Darla666

Episode title: Unleashed
Air date: October 15th 2003

SUMMARY: Angel tries to save a girl from a werewolf, but he is too late and the girl gets bitten meaning that she will now become a werewolf. The gang focuses all their energy on finding the girl to tell her about what she became, and stop her from killing. But she gets kidnapped by a group of sick freaks that pay big bucks to eat werewolf.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: It wasn't absolutely horrible. Actually, it was almost endurable. The new character, Nina, was kinda cool. Though the werewolf make up was very very lame. But that was to be expected. Werewolves always look lame no matter what. It's a secret rule of the horror movie world. Nina just came to confirm Angel's obsession with girls that look like Darla. And yes, that do includes Buffy if you ask me. Speaking of Angel, he was an ass a couple more time during the episode. Every week, I add a few quotes of him that prove how much of a dickhead he is. 6.5/10

Episode title: Just rewards
Air date: October 8th 2003

SUMMARY:

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT:

Episode title: Conviction
Air date: October 1st 2003

SUMMARY:

WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT: Ok, this will be in the form of random comments because I'm suddenly inspired to continue one of my fic and I don't want to waste too much time on Angel's hair... Although I'm sure I will nonetheless hehehe.

*The very very first thought that hit me when the episode started... Ok, maybe the second right after "Woohoo! Soulful vampire Tarzan to the rescue!" anyway, my second thought was: "Were they having a kungfu camp for vampires this summer?" Seriously, what was the deal with the fledging using matrix moves on Angel? Oh, and speaking of camps... someone should have attended the camp for young actors this summer (sorry, I'm so mean I'm going to Hell for sure) When Angel tried to look concerned for the girl's safety, he looked creepier than the attacking vamp had. If I had been the girl, I would have run screaming.

*Mmmmph! Ahhhhh! I have to say it! What's with the hair?! I never thought I'd ever say that, but I think Angel should go back to the overuse of nancyboy hairgel. He looked like Ricco Suave on steroids for crying out loud! Get a hair cut!!

*This is pointless, but I have to say it. Noxie (or whatever his name is) is totally cute. I hope Fred's gonna get lucky.

*Harmony was so cute and perky as usual. She will be a much needed taste of Sunnydale. And how cute was her "Creature of the night... Unite." comment? As long as she keeps her hands off my Spike, I'm cool with her.

*There should be more green in this world, cause it's definitely good to be green. I've missed my Lorne this summer! He was sooooo funny with his cellphone, his secretary following him with carpet samples!!! He seems to be adapting to the new life very well.
"But... Lunch with Mary-Kate! She was gonna tell me about Ashley's new piercing..."

"No, ok, he was fired. No no, sorry. He was set on fire." Nox

*Raise your hand if you knew Angel was gonna pick the yellow car!! I was rolling on the floor in hysterics. Nice flashy penis extension oh Champion of Champions! LOL

*I was very glad to learn that it doesn't take much studies and law knowledge to run a law firm. Like Elle Woods would say: "What? Like it's hard?"

*David seemed to remember his Basic acting technique classes for a few second when he called Fred to tell her the guy's son was the bomb. He actually looked upset, not constipated. (God I'm awful..)

"I'll align my furniture the wrong way and suddenly catch fire." Wes

*Ok, about that little scene with the SWAT team in the classroom, I have one question. Wasn't Angel supposed to be good? Ya know... what with the soul and all? What was the deal with shooting human brains out on the wall in an elementary school? I know the guy was evil and all that, but Wolfram&Hart's lawyers that he locked up with Darla and Dru two years ago were evil too and it did seem to be a big deal back then. He was all freaked out after doing it. So how come he didn't even blink an eye about killing those guys? I hate when the guys who write the show don't continue with the original line of thought. That grates my nerves. :(

*Did they really want Angel to sound gay, or were they just trying to make him sound funny? Cause it came off as gay to me.
"You pathetic little fairy."
"I'm not little."
Oh, and what about this one?
"There is something else you should know about me... I have no problem spanking men."

I can't believe Spike missed that one! He would have DIED LAUGHING. It would have given him years of blackmail material! Too bad he missed it.

*I didn't like Eve one bit. Didn't like her acting. She was emphasizing every word way too much and it was really bugging me. She sounded fake. Like we would say in my acting classes: she had her acting face on. And she better keep her filthy hands for herself and not even look in Spike's direction or else... Grrrr. (I don't know, but it sounds like I might have a problem with the idea that Spike might eventually move on from Buffy. Don't you think?)

*Oh, yeah, and Fred can keep her hands for herself too. Ya know... since I'm issuing warnings, might as well warn everybody. :) But I think she's already busy enough with Wes, Gunn and Noxie.

*Eve did say something funny to Angel: "You always open both doors when you go into a room?"

*12 seconds of Spike IS NOT ENOUGH. Don't do this to us! The special effect was good though. And the fact that the scene of Chosen played in reverse brought back all kind of bad emotions. One thing about the whole setting bugged me. I felt so sorry for Spike. He sacrificed himself, gave his life to save the world. He really did something beautiful that proved that he really is the true champion. And what's his reward? Coming back to people who don't know him or what he's done, don't give a shit about him or even hate him (Angel). Ok, the Scoobies weren't exactly his bestfriends, but at least they would have known what he has done. At least Buffy would have known. He would have felt a little more loved than by coming back to the AI gang. I felt so sorry for him, I had the very strong urge to huge him. I know it couldn't be avoided since he's now with AtS and the Scoobies technically don't exist anymore, but still. Oh Hell, don't listen to me, it's just a TV show. But I get so into it sometimes, it's scary.

Ok, I'm done with the bitching and I had a great time saying all those mean things about Angel. I think I will enjoy reviewing AtS episodes. 7/10. It would have probably gotten a better mark if Spike had been there longer.

NEXT WEEK...

Back to the Hellmouth
