Size: 16-22cm long including tail
Lifespan: 4-6 years
Natural range: throughout most of Europe and central-western Asia
Housing
- aquarium with mesh screen lid is best
- allow at least 20gal per trio
- social and should be kept in small groups or pairs
- Bedding: aspen
- Accessories: wheel, branches, nest box, hideaway, tubes
Food
- feed a mixture high quality small parrot seed mix which includes nuts and dried fruit and insectivore pellets
- fresh fruits and veggies once weekly
- occassional mealworms or crickets
Breeding
- Maturity: 8-12 months old
- Gestation: 23-25 days
- Litter size: 2-6
- eyes open around 14-16 days old
- should be handled regularly from the time eyes open to socialize pups
- should be weaned by 4-5 weeks old
