Scientific name: Eliomys quercinus
Size: 20-25cm long including tail
Lifespan: 4-6 years
Natural range: throughout southern Europe and northern Africa

Housing

• aquarium with wire mesh lid is best
• allow 20gal per pair
• social and should be kept in same sex pairs
• Bedding: aspen
• Accessories: nest box, wheel, branches, tubes, wood chews

Food

• mixture of a high quality large parrot seed mix which includes nuts and dried fruit, rodent blocks and kitten kibble
• fresh fruit or veggies weekly
• occassional mealworm or cricket

Breeding

• Maturity: 1 year old
• Gestation: 20-25 days
• Litter size: 2-7
• eyes open at about 21 days old
• should be fully weaned by 5 weeks old
