Size: 16-20cm long including tail
Lifespan: 3-5 years
Natural range: west, central and eastern Africa

Housing

• aquarium with wire mesh lid is best but can also use a mouse/hamster wire cage
• allow at least 10gal per pair
• very social and should be kept in same sex pairs or groups
• Bedding: aspen
• Accessories: nest box, branches, wheel, tubes

Food

• mixture of high quality rodent seed mix, rodent blocks and some cat kibble
• should have fresh fruits or veggies once to twice weekly

Breeding

• Maturity: 3 months old
• Gestation: 21-26 days
• Litter size: 10-20
• females will nurse each others pups
• eyes open around 2 weeks old
• should be fully weaned by 4 weeks old
