Natural range: throughout arid regions of North America
Housing
- a large plexiglass or glass enclosure would be best
- should be about 1m long by 50cm wide for one
- territorial and should be housed individually
- Bedding: aspen
- Accessories: nest box, tubes, chinchilla dust bath, wood chews
Food
- feed a high quality rodent seed mix
- allow free access to timothy hay and other dried greens
- small piece of fresh fruit or veggie twice weekly
- do not offer water, they will get all the moisture they need from fresh fruit or veggies
Breeding
- Maturity: 2-3 months old
- Gestation: 28-32 days
- Litter size: 2-5
- should be weaned by 5-6 weeks old
