Housing

• standard solid bottom cavy or rabbit type cage
• floorspace should be at least 1m by 1m per pair
• they are social and can be housed in same sex pairs
• Bedding: aspen
• Accessories: hideaway, chew toy

Food

• high quality commercial cavy pellet
• should have free access to timothy hay
• add a multivitamin specifically formulated for cavies to drinking water once weekly
• fresh fruit or veggies once weekly

Breeding

• Maturity: 2 months old
• Gestation: 60-70 days
• Litter size: 2-3
• pregnant females should be housed individually
• young are born fully furred and eyes open within hours of birth
• should be fully weaned by 4 weeks old
