Kublis: FAQs

The following FAQs (Frequently Asked Ques.) are almost the same as the ones found on the Website of Pagan Philippines but with some minor changes.

What is Kublis?

Kublis is a Filipino wiccan tradition focusing in worshiping ancient Filipino deities. Although the practices and Deities can be considered as Old or Ancient, Kublis is still young.

Who founded Kublis?

Kublis has no founder, it is only a name given to the collective magickal and pagan religious practices of modern Filipinos. But it does have a creator or stucturer, and that of course is me (well I deserve some credits!)

How does Kublis differ from mainstream Wicca?

Wicca as we all know came from Europe and it has a western flavor. And because we are from the other side of the globe, we cannot relate that much on their changing season.

Have you ever tried to practice a Yule ritual from a Wiccan book? Most books will tell you that after the ritual, you should walk through the snow to attune yourself with winter. What? snow? Hello? We dont have snow! How about Midsummer? Practicing a Summer ritual when it is raining outside!

Kublis is more attuned to our seasons. Midsummer is Pag-Ulan in Kublis, celebrating the coming of the rainy season and asking the Deities to cleanse our soul.

Where does the word Kublis come from?

It comes from Kubli, meaning hidden.

How do you get initiated into Kublis?

Kublis is mainly for solitaries, so groups are almost non-existent. So the only way to get initiation is to have a self-initiation. There is a ritual called "Pagsapi sa Lihim" ( Initiation into the Mysteries )

What are the holy days of Kublis?

There are 8 Klaraws or Sabbats in Kublis, each celebrating the seasons and agricultural cycles. The old names are not used anymore because of their unclearness. The new names where adopted last year and where taken from Wicca, by Tony Perez. The Klaraws are:

Paglamig- 12/21; Pagliwanag- 02/12; Pag-Init- 03/21; Pagbinhi- 04/30; Pag-Ulan 06/23; Pag-ani- 08/05; Paglagas- 09/21; Pagunita- 10/31

Unlike most traditions, Kublis does not have Klaraw rituals that you should practice. We have a belief that goes "Ginawa ng Diosa ang bawat isa sa ating na Bukod tangi". It means each is unique and you have control over your rituals. Each Pantas (one whoi practices Kublis) should write and compose his or her own Klaraw rituals. Guidelines in writing rituals can be found in the "Salamanca", the ritual book of Kublis

What is the Ritual Book of Kublis?

The Salamangca or Magic is the ritual book of kublis. Each Pantas should have a copy of this book. It contains an initiation rite, a Kluan rite, Guidelines for creating Klaraw rites, Herbal Lore, as well as information on Filipino magickal practices. Although it contains rites of Kublis, it is not treated as sacred writ. It is originally written in tagalog but an English version is also available. Let me also tell you that I am the one responsible for writing this book so you can be sure that it is not ancient!
