On this page I have included my own definition /thoughts on WitchCraft if you don't agree with them I don't really give a damn
WitchCraft and Wicca are NOT the same religion. There are some that would argue and cite many books on the subject however, most of them are new-age type books like....Scott Cunningham, Gerald Gardner, Ray Buckland and Silver Ravenwolf. Witchcraft is a religion all on it's own.
I call myself a Witch but, I prefer and most of the time use the term "seeker" then why do I use the term "Witch" simple....most people don't really grasp the term "seeker" but, when I just look at them and bluntly state " I'm a Witch" now THAT they understand! Yes, I realize the word Witch has some negative conotations but personally I don't give a damn. If a person then says to me...."Oh, you're going to hell....WitchCraft is evil" my response??? "Ok" there really isn't anything else I can say and I have too much shit to do than to stand there and debate my beliefs or try to convince them it's not evil Witches in general have their own way of doing things. here are just a few differences between Wiccans and Witches
Not all Witches use the same elemental correspondence to the cardinal directions as Wiccans do. There are some that worship their gods at set locations and a paticular set of elements that they use.
Not all Witches have a pentacle or a pentagram. I'm more convinced that that idea came from GERALD GARDNER as most witches use the symbol of their tradition or nothing at all For instance the norse use Thors Hammer.
Witches don't follow the Wiccan rede or any rede for that matter. We accept what we feel in our hearts and take the appropriate action. We take FULL responsibility for our actions.
Witches don't have a Book Of Shadows. Once again we see Gardner there. A generic term for it is grimoire in most traditons the actualy name of this book is kept a secret. The name of this book varies from tradition to tradition.
Witches do not believe in reincarnation. Not in the Wiccans sense anyway. though it varies throughout different traditions the basic belief is the Otherworld where the soul goes to dwell for a time before it returns. Instead of being reincarnated the individual is transformed into an animal, human .......or even a spirit.
I hope I have shed some light on the situation and maybe helped a future seeker in understanding the difference. If you have been to countless of Wiccan web sites that use the terms Wicca and Witchcraft synonymously and you are confused here are a few books to use as a starting point in studying the Craft. The best way to learn the Craft is to find someone who practices it however, this is rather tricky.
